Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly has left Old Trafford on a permanent deal for Turkish club Besiktas.

The injury-prone 29-year-old Ivorian made only 70 Premier League appearances in seven years for the Red Devils after becoming Jose Mourinho’s first signing as head coach back in 2016.

Man United flop Eric Bailly leaves club on free transfer

The news was announced via the club’s official social media platforms and confirmed Bailly has signed a one-year deal with the Black Eagles on a free transfer. The short-term deal proves that the Turkish giants remain unsure whether Bailly will be able to prove his fitness on a regular basis and also allows United to bid farewell to another high-earner at the club this summer.

In an official statement, Besiktas announced: “We wish Eric Bailly, who we believe will provide important services to our club, great success with our glorious jersey, and present it to the public with our respect.”
