Controversial La Liga president Javier Tebas has stated that he wished all-time great Lionel Messi had returned to Barcelona instead of moving to Inter Miami this summer.

Speaking at a press conference in Buenos Aires, Tebas claimed it was a “sad ending” between Messi and the Catalan giants.

Javier Tebas does not hold back on Lionel Messi situation

Messi left Barcelona back in 2021 following 17 incredible years in red and blue, leaving Nou Camp in a tearful goodbye for Paris Saint-Germain after failing to come to an agreement over a new deal.

When pressed on Messi’s career after leaving Barcelona, Tebas said, “Leo Messi didn’t finish his career at Barcelona because they couldn’t find an agreement. I wish he could have stayed and finished his sporting career in Spain. It would have been the best for him, for me, and for Barcelona.

I wish he had come to Spanish football and never gone to PSG. The end of this film has been sad between Messi and Spanish football.”
