Club captain Martin Odegaard is set to sign a new contract extension at Arsenal after a superb two and a half years at the Emirates Stadium.

The Norwegian maestro, 24, joined the club on a mid-season loan in 2021 after which his move was made permanent that summer. Odegaard has made the number 10 position his own at the Gunners and led the club in his first season as captain last year to a second-place Premier League finish- running eventual champions Manchester City very close.

Martin Odegaard to sign improved deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal remain optimistic they can tie down one of their star assets to a new improved contract. The former Real Madrid wonderkid is contracted with Mikel Arteta’s men until June 2025 and is currently paid $143,500 a week. Odegaard has already chipped in with vital goals in the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace and the 3-1 win earlier this month against Manchester United.

Also skipper of his national team, Odegaard was on target for Norway during their 2-1 Euro 2024 qualifier win on Tuesday against Georgia.
