Former Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi is set to sign for Bundesliga side Mainz 05 on a free transfer.
As reported earlier this week by Soccer Times, the 28-year-old remained one of the most distinguished players still on the market without a club after leaving PSV Eindhoven by mutual consent earlier this month.

A regular in the Villa side during their first years following their return to the Premier League in 2019, El Ghazi flourished in the COVID-hit 2020-21 season, scoring 10 Premier League goals that campaign.
Following an unsuccessful stint on loan at Everton, El Ghazi moved to PSV Eindhoven before leaving on September 4 and with time still on his side in his career, could prove to be a shrewd signing for Bo Svensson’s men.
