Man United forward Wout Weghorst will hold talks with Burnley manager Vincent Kompany at the end of the season to clarify his future.

Weghorst, 30, has let it be known that he would like to stay at Old Trafford beyond the length of his loan deal which is due to expire on 30 June. However, the Dutchman has failed to prove himself to be a reliable goalscorer for the Red Devils, scoring only twice in 28 appearances for the club so far.

Wout Weghorst wants to make loan deal permanent at Old Trafford

The World Cup star is currently under contract with Burnley until 2025 after moving to Turf Moor last January by Sean Dyche in an eventually unsuccessful bid to keep the Clarets in the Premier League.

And according to The Sun’s Henry Tomlinson, Weghorst has impressed new manager Vincent Kompany this season enough to convince the ex-Man City captain that Weghorst still has a future with Burnley, despite the 6ft 6inch striker’s questionable goal-scoring record at the top-level.
