Bordeaux’s Brazilian starlet Malcom is touted as one of the hottest young players in the European game. The 21-year-old is set to leave his current club, but his destination seems to keep changing. It seems to be a case of Malcom in the middle.

Another twist in Malcom saga

Last week reportedly he was in advanced talks to move to Premier League Everton. However, then reportedly Roma made him an offer he could not refuse and he was set to join the Giallorossi. The flights had been booked and fans were waiting to greet the winger at the airport.

Now, though Malcom’s future has taken another twist according to the Mirror. According to the tabloid, Spanish giants Barcelona have offered the French club a bigger transfer fee, and the player a big wage to head to Catalonia. Bordeaux have accepted the offer and the highly-rated forward is now expected to join the Spanish champions.

Barcelona wanted to add an attacking player

It seems that Barcelona are looking to add another talented attacking player to their armoury of players already at the club. The Blaugrana have been heavily linked with a move for Malcom’s compatriot Willian of Chelsea.

However, Chelsea do not want to sell for less than a mooted fee of £70million. The big transfer fee may well have been enough to put the Catalan giants off signing the Brazilian international and look elsewhere for a new attacking player.

Would be a good move for Malcom

Malcom would certainly be an interesting alternative to his compatriot. His skill set would be ideal for La Liga. The forward is quick, likes to dribble. The youngster could also learn a lot from the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and compatriot Philippe Coutinho in Catalonia. The move would definitely be a step up from Everton and Roma for the forward. It is a dream move for most footballers.

Barcelona has a great recent history of Brazilian stars, including the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo (The original) and Rivaldo all starring for the La Liga giants.

Malcom may not have as much regular first-team football at the Nou Camp, as on Merseyside or Rome, but he has the talent to break into the Blaugrana starting line-up. Both Messi and Suarez are in their thirties, so Malcom would be one for the present and the future. He would be a signing with the long-term in mind.

Reportedly the youngster pleaded with Bordeaux to be able to speak with Barcelona once he found out about the Catalan’s interest in his services. That is understandable considering their stature in the game.

Roma may be in the Champions League next season, but Barcelona are giants of the European game with a history that not many clubs teams can match.

Malcom has so much promise and ability it is only fitting that he could be strutting his stuff at such a big club in the new season. The move may be a dream one for the player, but for Roma, it looks set to be a case of disappointment on missing out on signing the youngster.

Would Malcom be a success at Barcelona?
