Serie A side Roma are set for a shock loan move for Chelsea hitman Romelu Lukaku.
The 30-year-old has been told to train with the youth team by Chelsea and is yet to speak to new head coach Mauricio Pochettino according to reports.
Jose Mourinho wants to re-unite with Romelu Lukaku
Roma boss Jose Mourinho signed Romelu Lukaku while manager of Manchester United back in 2017 and the pair enjoyed a successful time together initially with the Belgian international scoring 27 goals in all competitions in his first season at Old Trafford.
However, Lukaku’s form dipped in his second season, which helped lead to Mourinho’s demise. Despite this, Lukaku is expected to join up with the Portuguese after Roma offered a $5.5m loan proposal last night for the experienced hitman.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there will be no mandatory buy option clause in Lukaku’s contract with the Romans pushing to get a deal completed today whilst first-choice striker Tammy Abraham continues to recover from a serious knee injury suffered in June.
