Fantasy Football ones to watch season 2018/19 gameweek three

|

Unfortunately, our gameweek two ones to watch failed to produce the goods, except for Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser. However, as our bumper return of points in gameweek one showed, FPL fortunes can wildly differ from week to week.

Here are our gameweek three ones to watch:

Ricardo Pereira (Leicester, £5million)

The former Porto full-back has made a flying start to his career at Leicester. The Portuguese international has produced two assists in the Foxes games against Manchester United and last time out Wolves. He also picked –up a clean sheet against Wolves, picking up maximum bonus points in the process.

While Leicester have been poor at the back of late, Pereira also offers that obvious attacking threat at the other end of the pitch. The Foxes face a trip to Southampton this weekend, who have won just three times in their last 27 league games.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Arsenal, £7.1million)

At Dortmund Mkhitaryan looked like a top-class talent, scoring goals and assists on a regular basis. However, the Armenian international has found life in the Premier League with Manchester United and Arsenal much tougher.

The attacking midfielder has produced sporadic returns for the Gunners. However, last weekend he scored a goal and also produced an assist in a 3-2 defeat at Chelsea. His overall stats were not great, but in FPL goals and assists are all that count for attacking players.

His price tag of £7.1million makes him look highly under-priced, especially with a home game against West Ham this weekend. The Hammers have lost both their top-flight games so far this season.

Pedro (Chelsea, £6.6million)

The Spaniard has also been a useful FPL option. However, like Mkhitaryan has often flattered to deceive. One of the winger’s biggest problems in recent seasons has been nailing down a regular first-team starting position.

With Eden Hazard still seemingly recovering from the World Cup and benched for the opening two league games, Pedro has started and scored in both of his league appearances for the Blues.

Hazard is likely to return to the Blues starting line-up in the near future. However, due to Pedro’s form, Brazilian winger Willian is more likely to drop to the bench on the Belgian’s return to the starting line-up. A trip to Newcastle this weekend offers the promise of more attacking points for the former Barcelona star.

Danny Ings (Southampton, £5.5million)

The former Burnley forward joined the Saints initially on a season-long loan from Liverpool with a view to a permanent £20million move in the summer. The 26-year-old has already made his mark for the Saints in his two appearances for the south coast club, including scoring his first goal in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Everton.

Ings looked hungry, determined and would have had a brace if it were not for a superb save from Jordan Pickford. A price of £5.5million makes him a great enabler for any squad. The fact that Mark Hughes’ side host Leicester at St Marys on Saturday makes him even more attractive. The Foxes have lost their last four league games on their travels, conceding at least two goals in each defeat.
