Fantasy Football ones to watch season 2018/19 gameweek 17

|

I have to say our ones to watch for gameweek 16 did not turn out too badly, as three of our four picks produced points, with Lucas Digne and Robert Snodgrass both also picking up bonus points. Here are our ones to watch for gameweek 17:

Matt Doherty (Wolves, £5.1m)

The Republic of Ireland international is now very close to being an essential FPL asset. The wing-back’s attacking threat in the early weeks of the season has started producing tangible results in recent matches.

Doherty has now scored twice and produced one assist in his last three Wolves appearances, producing attacking points in Wolves last three matches. Although clean sheets have been tougher to come by, the wing-back’s attacking threat makes him a bargain at £5.1million.

Wolves host Bournemouth, who are a very good attacking team. However, Eddie Howe’s team head into the game on the back of a poor run of form and with a highly vulnerable backline. Doherty will be confident of adding to his stellar tally of points this weekend.

David Brooks (Bournemouth, £5.1m)

The Welsh midfielder has appeared on our ones to watch earlier in the season. The midfielder’s form has dipped of late, which has to be expected from a young player in his first season in the top-flight.

However, at £5.1m, Brooks is still a bargain enabler for your FPL team, as you strive to put together a team with the premium midfielders and strikers. With the Cherries visiting Wolves, Brooks has a good chance to add to his haul of three goals and one assist.

Roberto Pereyra (Watford, £6.2m)

The Uruguayan international midfielder kicked off the season in fine style. However, FPL points have been harder to come by of late for the former Juventus star, as he had failed to return in five games prior to Monday night’s 2-2 draw at Everton.

However, two assists against the Toffees could mark a return to form for a very attractive mid-range midfielder. A good run of fixtures in seven games offers him the chance of picking up more points.

The Hornets have failed to win in six league games. However, they are the favourites to beat Cardiff at Vicarage Road this weekend to end that poor run.

Javier Hernandez (West Ham, £6.4m)

The Mexican striker has not enjoyed great success during his stint at West Ham since joining the Hammers in the summer of 2017. He has been in and out the team and even played out wide.

However, there are signs that the former Manchester United star may be about to hit form once again. Chicharito has now scored three goals and produced one assist in his last three appearances for the Hammers.

The fact that former first choice striker Marko Arnautovic is sidelined and Lucas Perez is also a doubt points to Hernandez starting the Irons away game at struggling rivals Fulham, who have conceded the most goals in the top-flight this season.

If you are looking for a mid-range striker for your third or even second striker role, then Hernandez could be your man.
