Liverpool and Cardiff face vital games in the Premier League this weekend

|

With just two gameweeks remaining in the Premier League campaign, Saturday’s Premier League see vital games in the title race and also the fight for survival the both of the table. Here are the vital games taking place this Saturday:

Cardiff v Crystal Palace (Kick-off 5:30 PM)

The scenario is simply for Cardiff, the Welsh side simply have to beat Crystal Palace at the Cardiff City Stadium to have any hope of preserving their Premier League status.

The home side heads into the game on the back of eight defeats in their last ten top-flight outings. Neil Warnock’s side has suffered defeats against Liverpool and Cardiff in their last two top-flight outings.

One of Cardiff main problems has been scoring goals of late in the English top-flight, as the Welsh side has failed to score in four of their last five Premier League games.

Cardiff’s home record has played a part in their struggles of late, as they have suffered four defeats in their last five home matches in the top flight. One of the Bluebirds biggest problems is their leaky defence, as the Welsh side has conceded at least two goals in four of their last five home games in the top flight.

Crystal Palace are now safe from the spectre of relegation from the Premier League. The Eagles have taken four points from their last two games in the Premier League. Roy Hodgson’s side has won at Arsenal and drawn against Everton in the last two league games.

The Eagles have a fine away record, winning four of their last five away matches in the Premier League. However, the visitors are slight underdogs to record a victory in the Welsh capital.

Newcastle v Liverpool (Kick-off 8PM)

On Saturday night, Liverpool visit Newcastle in a game that could be pivotal in the race for the Premier League title.

Newcastle have secured their Premier League status by enjoying a three-game unbeaten run in the top flight. Last time out, the Magpies drew 1-1 at Brighton. The game produced another tight encounter for the north east side, as four of their last five top-flight games have now produced under 2.5 goals.

Rafa Benitez’s team has an excellent recent record on home soil of late in the top-flight, winning six of their last seven league outings at St James Park. They have also been performing well in front of goal at home in recent league games, scoring at least two goals in all six of those recent seven victories.

Liverpool are just a point behind league leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title. With City not in action until a home game with Leicester on Monday night, this game gives Jurgen Klopp’s side a chance to regain top spot.

The Reds have won their last seven Premier League matches, while finding the net at least twice in all seven victories.  The Merseysider’s have also kept clean sheets in their last three top-flight outings.

The visitors are undefeated in seven league matches on their travels, having recorded three straight away wins in the top-flight, while scoring at least twice in all three wins.
