Fantasy Football ones to watch season 2019/20 gameweek five

|

The international break meant a short hiatus for the Premier League and with-it FPL. However, the English top-flight returns with vengeance this weekend. Our gameweek four picks delivered a good haul, with Tammy Abraham grabbing a brace, Daniel James also scoring and Lucas Digne picking up an assist.

Let’s see if we can do even better with our gameweek five picks, here are our ones to watch for gameweek five:

Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City, £5.4m)

An injury to first-choice centre-back Aymeric Laporte has gifted the Argentinian the opportunity for a run of games in the Premier League. Otamendi has proven to be a dependable figure at the back for City but struggled to get into the starting line-up last season.

The Citizens head to new boys Norwich City this weekend, a game that Pep Guardiola’s team are massive favourites to win. A home game against Watford follows before potentially trickier games against Everton and Wolves.

However, when in form, City will be expected to win every game in the Premier League. They have been solid in defence in recent seasons and there is nothing to suggest that will change with Otamendi in the heart of the defence.

Harry Wilson (Bournemouth, £6m)

The Liverpool loanee has made an impressive start to life on the south coast, scoring twice in his first four appearances. The youngster impressed in the Championship last season and it seems he could very well continue to impress in the top-flight.

The Cherries face a potentially difficult home game against Everton this weekend. However, the Toffees have looked vulnerable defensively in recent games, conceding two goals in their last two Premier League games.

After the home match with the Toffees, Wilson and his teammates face three games in their next four that rank just two in the FPL difficulty ranking. Wilson has the potential to prove a bargain at £6m.

Richarlison (Everton, £7.9m)

Everton’s club-record signing endured a frustrating start to the Premier League campaign. However, a goal in the Toffees 4-2 League Cup win at Lincoln seems to have kick-started his campaign.

The 22-year-old Brazilian international followed up that goal against the Imps with a brace in a 3-2 home win over Wolves last time out in the top-flight. On form, the former Watford player represents good value at £7.9million.

A trip to Bournemouth this weekend represents a golden opportunity for the forward to add to his goal tally. The Cherries attacking style of football often leaves them open at the back. A run of games including games against Sheffield United, Burnley, West Ham and Brighton in their next five after Bournemouth makes Richarlison a very attractive FPL option.

Sebastien Haller (West Ham, £7.5m)

Such is the fragility of the FPL market, the Hammers club-record signing has already dropped in price and rose again since the start of the campaign. The former Eintracht Frankfurt seems to have now found his feet in the top-flight.

He has scored three times in his last two appearances, collecting five bonus points in the process. A trip to Aston Villa on Monday night is not exactly a daunting fixture, although the games after the game at Villa Park are not the easiest.
