We have nearly reached the half-way point of the Premier League campaign and indeed the FPL season. This week is gameweek 18 and the midweek fixtures could prove tricky, especially if you are attempting to plan for the double gameweek in 19. Here are our picks for the gameweek:

Eric Dier (Tottenham, £5.1m)

This may seem like a dull choice for you FPL bosses out there. However, at £5.1m and seemingly a cast iron selection at the centre of the Spurs defence, the England international looks to be outstanding value.

Only Manchester City have conceded fewer Premier League goals than Jose Mourinho’s team this season. The team from north London come up against a Fulham side on Wednesday night that has struggled for goals this season in the top-flight. Only three teams have scored fewer goals than the Cottagers in the Premier League this season. With another favourable fixture at bottom of the table Sheffield United at the weekend, Dier looks to be a top option for gameweek 18.

Kieran Tierney (Arsenal, £5.4m)

The former Celtic player has been amongst our picks before and with good reason. Tierney has impressed for the Gunners without producing many tangible returns in terms of FPL points. Well, that has changed in recent weeks, as he has produced points at both ends of the field. He has scored once and also picked up an assist in the last three weeks. In fact, last time out Tierney picked up a bumper 18-point haul in a 4-0 win over West Brom.

A midweek home game with Crystal Palace, plus another league encounter with Newcastle this weekend gives the Scotland international more opportunities to add to his points tally.

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal, £5.3m)

There are few players in FPL that represent such good value as the Arsenal youngster. He looks to be an outstanding pick in a gameweek that is limited by a lack of fixtures. Like his teammate Tierney, he has started to produce tangible returns in recent weeks. Saka has now scored twice and produced two assists in his last three league games for the Gunners. The tempting price and decent fixture list make the winger a fine choice.

If you are looking for a cheaper option at Arsenal then fellow youngster Emile Smith Rowe could be an alternative. Available at just £4.4m, he looks a bargain. However, there is a slight caveat in the fact that he may be more of a rotation risk.

Callum Wilson (Newcastle, £6.6m)

The Newcastle star is one of the few budget forward options available to managers in gameweek 18. The former Bournemouth striker may have scored just once in his last five league appearances, but he is still the fifth-highest scoring forward in the game.

With the Magpies facing Sheffield United away from home this weekend, the England international looks to have a favourable fixture in which to add to his eight Premier League goals this season. He is also a decent pick for the next six games, as they all rank three or less in the fixture difficult ranking.

Will any of our picks be in your gameweek 18 team?
