In Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, Leicester will put their top-six credentials to the test, as the Foxes welcome top-four regulars Tottenham to the King Power Stadium.

Leicester (Odds of 15/8 for victory)

There were high hopes for Leicester at the beginning of the season that they could gate-crash the top-six in the top-flight this season. The Foxes have made a solid start to their Premier League campaign, picking up eight points from their five league starts so far.

A 1-0 defeat at Manchester United last time out ended a four-game unbeaten run in the top-flight for Brendan Rodgers’ team this season.

The team from Midlands have a positive recent home record, as the Foxes are unbeaten in four home matches in the Premier League, winning two and drawing two of their undefeated matches. A good defensive record has been crucial to the home sides recent form at the King Power Stadium, as they have conceded just once in four home league outings.

Highly-rated playmaker James Maddison has made a bright start to the new Premier League campaign. The former Norwich star will be looking to add to his two assists this season, which has been scant return considering his displays this season so far.

Tottenham (Odds of 15/8 for victory)

The visitors will head into this clash as favourites, but in reality, that status is only based on their top-four finish last season. In truth, the team from north London have made a very unconvincing start to the Premier League campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are only above their hosts courtesy of superior goal difference. Last time out, Spurs threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Olympiakos in their opening Champions League group game. However, in their last Premier League game, the visitors recorded a 4-0 home win over Crystal Palace.

The win ended a three-match mini-run in the top-flight without a victory for Spurs. Their recent record in the top-flight dating back to last season is not great either, as they have won just twice in eight league outings.

Spurs away form has been a major problem of late, as they have failed to win in eight matches on their travels in the Premier League.  However, 2-2 draws against Manchester City and arch-rivals Arsenal in their two away matches in the top-flight this season were respectable results.

Tottenham will be looking to England striker Harry Kane and South Korean star Son Heung-min to provide the attacking inspiration. Kane has scored three times in the top-flight this season, while Son has scored twice.

Prediction

This game is Leicester’s chance to send out a real signal of intent that the Foxes are capable of mixing it with the big teams this season. They drew 1-1 at Chelsea while suffering that aforementioned 1-0 defeat at Manchester United, so have enjoyed mixed results against the so-called ‘big six’ already this season.

Tottenham’s away form has been poor since the backend of last season. However, they are showing signs of improvement. Therefore, they will not be easy opponents for the home side.

We are sitting on the fence with this clash and backing the draw at odds of 5/2. There seems little between the teams on current form, so backing this one to finish all square seems the way to go.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 5/2 (All odds taken from Bet365).
