On Monday night, Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford, in one of the standout games in gameweek seven of the Premier League. Both teams have made inconsistent starts to their campaign, so will be looking to kick-start their campaign in this clash.
Manchester United (Odds of 11/8 for victory)
The home side has endured a frustrating start to their Premier League campaign. The Red Devils are currently eighth place in the table after picking up just 8 points from their opening Premier League matches. Last time out in the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team suffered a 2-0 defeat at West Ham.
The defeat at the London Stadium means that United have now won just twice in their last 11 outings in the Premier League. It is a poor record for a team with such a lofty reputation.
The fortress that used to be Old Trafford is no more, as the Red Devils have now won just two of their last six league games on home soil. Both of those victories have been this season, though.
What will not help the home side in this game is a massive injury list. Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot are ruled out through injury, while Paul Pogba is also a major doubt. United boss Solskjaer has also virtually ruled out Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial making the game either. That could give a chance to highly-rated teenager Mason Greenwood in attack.
Arsenal (Odds of 19/10 for victory)
The Gunners are fourth place, despite an inconsistent start to the Premier League campaign. A 3-2 win over Aston Villa in their last top-flight match ended a winless league run of three matches.
For the third straight league outing, Arsenal both conceded and scored two goals. The Gunners strength is certainly in attack, as they have now scored at least two goals in their last five matches in all competitions.
Unai Emery’s team have a mixed recent away record in the Premier League. However, the north London team have won just four times in 16 matches on their travels in the top-flight. The fact that the Gunners have kept just two clean sheets in their last 22 away games in the Premier League, one last season and one during the current campaign.
The recent return from injury of Kieran Tierney, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding is a big defensive boost. However, Bellerin has already been ruled out of this clash due to a lack of match practice, while it remains to be seen if Emery will risk the other two from the start.[reviewTableLarge ids=”620,639,642″ title=”Best betting sites to place bet on this game are:”]
This game has been in the last decade the biggest in the Premier League, with the two teams aiming for the title. The two teams are no longer challenging for the title, but rather a place in the league’s top-four.
With Liverpool and Manchester City unlikely to slip from their top-two positions this season, these two teams will be hoping to take one of the two remaining Champions League spots.
There is not much between these two teams. However, United’s injury problems could be the key to how this game goes. Therefore, backing Arsenal to win at odds of 19/10 looks like a good bet. Considering neither team are great defensively, the odds of 4/6 for over 2.5 goals scored looks a logical bet.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 19/10 and/or the over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/6 (All odds taken from Bet365).
