On Saturday night, Norway hosts Spain at the at Ullevaal Stadion in Group F of qualifying for next years European Championship.
Norway (Odds of 13/2 for victory)
The home side head into this potentially difficult clash as massive underdogs to pick up a result. However, the Scandinavians have not given up hope of still landing one of the two automatic qualification spots for Euro 2020.
They may be nine points behind the group leading visitors, but Norway are just two points behind fellow Scandinavians Sweden, who occupy second spot. Lars Lagerback are unbeaten in five qualifiers since defeat on gameweek one against Spain.
Since then they have picked up three wins and two draws in a group it is all to play for when it comes to the second qualification berth. Last time out, the home picked up a highly respectable 1-1 draw against local rivals Sweden.
Norway have been difficult to beat on home soil in qualifying for Euro 2020, as they have lost just once in eight qualifiers. However, they have also won just once in their last four home qualifiers.
The home side can call upon the services of Bournemouth striker Josh King, who has made a decent start to the Premier League campaign. Surprisingly, though, highly-rated youngster Erling Braut Haland is not in the squad, despite his goalscoring exploits this season with RB Salzburg.
Spain (Odds of 1/ 2 for victory)
As expected, Spain have taken complete control of this group. La Roja have won all six of their qualifiers in Group F while scoring at least twice in all six victories. It is now just a matter of time before Robert Moreno’s side seal their spot at Euro 2020.
The visitors have been formidable opponents in qualifying for European Championships, as they have won 27 of their last 28 qualifiers. The last time they failed to win a qualifier was back in 2014 when they suffered a 2-1 defeat in Slovakia.
The defeat in Slovakia was also the last time Spain suffered a defeat on their travels in qualifying. The visitors have won last seven away games in qualifying, keeping five clean sheets in the process.
The visitors have also had the upper hand in recent fixtures against Norway. In fact, La Roja have won five of the last seven meetings with the Scandinavians, while suffering just one defeat in the process.
A number of high-profile players will miss out for Spain, including Paco Alcacer, Jordi Alba, Isco and Alvaro Morata. Moreno may well just be looking at his squad options, with the group virtually sewn up.[reviewTableLarge ids=”620,639,642″ title=”Best betting sites to place bet on this game are:”]
Norway look like a very well organised team under the highly experienced Lagerback. The Scandinavians may make life difficult for the visitors. However, we expect Spain to have enough quality to record a victory. Even without the in-form Haland and Alcacer, we are also expecting goals, so backing the over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/5 is not a terrible bet.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 1/ 2 and/or over 2.5 goals at odds of 4/5. (All odds taken from Bet365).
