On Tuesday night, Dortmund and Inter go head-to-head at the Signal Iduna Park, in what could be a massive game in Group F of the Champions League. The pair are locked in a battle for qualification from the group, with Barcelona currently top of the group.

Dortmund (Odds of 19/20 for victory)

BVB are currently third in the group but are level with Inter on points, so a win here could prove pivotal to their chances of qualifying from this tough group. Lucien Favre’s team received a boost at the weekend when they defeated Wolfsburg 3-0 in the Bundesliga. Their recent form has been relatively inconsistent, but a 2-0 defeat against Inter in the reverse fixture is BVB’s only defeat in 11 games in all competitions.

The defeat in the last meeting between these two teams means that Dortmund have won just once in their last five matches in the Champions League. Strangely for some a potent attacking team, BVB have also failed to score in four of their last five outings in Europe’s elite competition.

Even their usually strong record on home soil is poor in the Champions League, as they have won just two of their last nine games at the Signal Iduna Park. They have also failed to win in three games in this competition on home soil.

Inter (Odds of 3/1 for victory)

The Nerazzurri are enjoying a fine season under former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Inter head into this clash on the back of four wins from their last five outings, including a 2-1 win over Bologna at the weekend, where club-record signing Romelu Lukaku was again on target.

Inter’s European campaign has been a mixed bag so far this season. The visitors kicked off their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Slavia Prague before a narrow 2-1 defeat at Barcelona. The aforementioned victory over BVB last time out improved their position in the group heading into this clash.

The victory against Dortmund also ended a winless run of six games in the Champions League for the Nerazzurri. It is fair to say the Italian side have not been great on their travels in this competition, as they have won just one away game in their last 6 outings, losing four of their last five on the road.

Whether the tactical acumen of Antonio Conte can help that record in this game only time will tell. However, it does appear on paper as one of Inter’s most important remaining games in the group.

Conclusion

Both teams have better domestic recent records than in the Champions League. In fact, the pair find themselves in second place in the Bundesliga and Serie A respectively.

This is a must not lose game for Inter, considering the two teams’ positions in the group. Dortmund needs to win to level out the fact that Inter won the reverse fixture. With BVB poor at home in Europe and Inter poor away, it seems the most likely outcome is a draw is this clash which you can back odds of 12/5.

The other bet we are backing is Romelu Lukaku as anytime scorer at odds of 15/8. The former Manchester United forward has scored six goals in his last five appearances for Inter. Ironically, the only game he has not found the net was the reverse fixture. After a double against Bologna, he will be in confident mood in this clash.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 12/5 and/or Romelu Lukaku anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8 (All odds taken from bet 365).
