On Friday night, two of the Premier League’s bottom clubs do battle at Carrow Road, as Norwich host Watford in potentially vital clash. Both teams head into this clash in woeful league form and are in desperate need of maximum points.

Norwich (Odds of 29/20 for victory)

The Canaries head into this clash 19th in the Premier League table, just two points above their bottom of the table opponents. Daniel Farke’s team are also four points away from the safety of 17th place in the top-flight table.

A winless run of six games, including five defeats is the reason for the home sides lowly position in the table. The last victory they recorded was a shock 3-2 win over reigning champions Manchester City.

The fact that the team from Norfolk have conceded at least twice in eight of their previous nine league outings has not helped their cause. At the other end of the field, they have also scored just once in their last three Premier League games.

Home has offered little comfort to the Canaries of late in the top-flight, as they have suffered three defeats in four league matches at Carrow Road. Once again conceding goals has been the crux of their problems on home soil, with at least two goals conceded in their last four league outings.

Watford (Odds of 29/20 for victory)

The Hornets actually head into this game slight favourites for victory, despite being bottom of the top-flight table, having collected just five points all season in the Premier League.

Watford’s poor form did not start this season, though, it dates back to last season. Not only have the Hornets not won a league game during the current campaign, they have failed to win 15 matches dating back to April.

Quique Sanchez Flores’ side showed some improvement by picking up draws against Sheffield United, Tottenham and Bournemouth. However, the unbeaten run ended last time out in the top-flight with a 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea. Their recent top-flight games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five games. The fact Watford have scored just twice in their last six games is a big factor in those tight affairs.

Unsurprisingly considering their general recent results, the Hornets away form is poor. In fact, the visitors have suffered defeat in seven of their last ten away games in the Premier League, winning just once in the process.

To add to those negative stats, the Hornets have beaten Norwich in just one of the last six meetings between the two teams in all competitions.

Conclusion

In reality, this game is so hard to judge because both teams have been woeful of late. Watford have shown some signs of revival, but struggle to score goals. Norwich also struggle to score goals. Looking at the stats, we are going to back the draw at odds of 11/4. With both teams struggling for goals the under 2.5 goals at odds of 13/10 looks an attractive bet.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 11/4 and/or the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 13/10. (All Odds are taken from Bet365).
