|

On Thursday night, the Czech Republic and Kosovo go head-to-head at the Struncovy Sady Stadion, in a potentially vital match in Group A of qualifying for next years European Championships.

Czech Republic (Odds of 4/6 for victory)

The Czech Republic head into this potentially pivotal group game second in the table, but ahead of Kosovo by just one point. A victory would see the home side qualify for next years European Championships. They have qualified for the last six European Championships, despite failing to qualify for the last three World Cups.

Jaroslav Silhavy’s team have won four of their last six qualifiers. The exceptions have been a 5-0 mauling at group leaders England and also a 2-1 defeat in Kosovo. They will be keen to add a crucial fifth win in the qualifying campaign to seal their place at Euro 2020.

The home side has been prolific in those qualifying wins in the group, scoring at least two goals in each victory. Their last seven qualifiers dating back to 2015 have produced over 2.5 goals.

The Czech Republic’s home record in qualifying for the European Championships has also been good of late, as they have won seven of their last nine qualifiers on home soil, suffering just one defeat in the process. Their attacking prowess has been illustrated at home by them scoring at least two goals in four of their last five matches on home soil.

Kosovo (Odds of 19/4 for victory)

Kosovo have been one of the surprise packages of Euro 2020 qualifying so far. This is their first every qualification campaign for an international tournament, but they head into the penultimate game of the group still with a chance of qualifying.

To say the visitors have acquitted themselves well in Group A would be an understatement. In fact, they have won three of their last four group games, with the only defeat coming in a 5-3 defeat against England at Wembley.

The fact that they have been fearsome going forward has certainly helped the Kosovans stay in touch with the top two, as the visitors have scored at least two goals in each of their last four qualifiers. They have also scored in all six of their qualifiers for Euro 2020.

As they are ion their first-ever qualification campaign, Kosovo have played just three away games, enjoying mixed fortunes by winning one, drawing one and losing one of their three games on their travels. Both teams have scored in all three of the visitors away qualifiers.

Conclusion

This game has so much riding on it. However, we are backing the Czech Republic to record a victory at odds of 4/6. Their home advantage could prove massive. Judging by the two team’s recent qualifiers, we are expecting goals, so we are backing over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 21/20.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 4/6 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 21/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
