Prediction and odds for the game: Valencia (11/8) v Villarreal (2/1) Back the home win.

When: Saturday 30th November 2019, Kick-off 8 PM

Where: Estadio de Mestalla

On Sunday night, Valencia host Villarreal at the Mestalla, as both teams look to move up the table towards La Liga’s top-six.

Valencia

Los Ches have endured an inconsistent campaign in La Liga. Albert Celades’ team are currently tenth-place in the Spanish top-flight. However, the home side are only just three points outside the European spots. A 2-1 defeat at Real Betis ended a three-game unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight for Valencia.

Although the home sides recent league games have not necessarily been that high-scoring, both teams have scored in six of their last seven matches in the Spanish top-flight.

Valencia have been tough to beat at the Mestalla in La Liga of late, losing just once in 20 outings on home soil. Los Ches have only failed to score once in their last 11 matches at Mestalla in the Spanish top-flight. However, their recent games on home soil have been relatively low-scoring in La Liga, with five of their last seven matches producing under 2.5 goals.

Villarreal

The visitors have struggled for any sort of consistency this season, as they have picked up just 18 points from their 14 La Liga games. Their relatively poor form means that they are 12th place in the table, but just two points behind the home side.

A 3-1 home defeat against Celta Vigo last time out means that the Yellow Submarine has failed to win in four La Liga matches, having suffered three defeats in the process.

The fact that Javi Calleja’s team have conceded at least two goals in three of their last four La Liga games has not helped their chances of success this season. Their poor defensive displays have contributed to over 2.5 goals being scored in four of their last five Spanish top-flight games.

Calleja’s recent away form in La Liga has been woeful, as they have lost five of their last seven away games, including four of their last five games on their travels in the Spanish top-flight.

Their recent away games in La Liga have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last nine matches. Villarreal’s defensive woes have been a big factor in their away struggles in La Liga, as they have conceded at least two goals in seven of their last nine matches.

Conclusion

Neither of these two teams are in great form heading into this clash. However, Valencia have home advantage and are hard to defeat at the Mestalla. We are backing the home win as the recommended bet, while our second recommendation is the under 2.5 goals scored, as neither are prolific.

Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 11/8 and/or the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
