Prediction and odds for the game: Hoffenheim (17/20) v Augsburg (14/5)

We are backing the home win

When: Friday 13th December 2019, Kick-off 7:30 PM

Where: The PreZero Arena

On Friday night, Hoffenheim will be looking to get their Bundesliga campaign back on track, as they welcome Augsburg to the PreZero Arena.

Hoffenheim

The home side’s form has dipped of late in the German top-flight. A 3-1 defeat at RB Leipzig last time out in the Bundesliga means that Hoffenheim have now failed to win in three league games, suffering two defeats in the process. The recent dip in form has seen Alfred Schreuder’s team fall to eighth place in the table, four points off the European spots.

Their recent league matches have certainly not lacked goals, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five Bundesliga outings.

Hoffenheim have an inconsistent recent home record in the German top-flight but have managed to win just three league matches in the Bundesliga on home soil. Their recent league games at the PreZero Arena have at least been entertaining, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven matches.

Hoffenheim have a strong recent record against the visitors, as they are unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions against Augsburg. The home side has also scored at least two goals in their last four meetings with Augsburg.

Augsburg

The visitors are in mid-table in the Bundesliga, having collected 17 points from their 14 league games so far. Their form has improved of late though, as a 2-1 win over Mainz last time out means they are unbeaten in four league outings, having recorded three victories in the process.

Augsburg recent form may have improved, but they are still poor travellers. In fact, they have won just once in their last nine league games away from home. To go back a bit further, they have also won just twice in 19 matches on their travels.

Their recent away games have been tight low-scoring affairs, as four of their last five matches on their travels in the Bundesliga have produced under 2.5 goals. Despite the low-scoring away games, Augsburg have scored in all but one of their last eight league matches on their travels. They have also kept just two clean sheets in their last eight away matches in the German top-flight.

Conclusion

Hoffenheim really do need a victory to revive their Bundesliga campaign. We are backing Schreuder’s side to record a victory, as Augsburg’s recent away record is poor, even if their recent form has improved.

The other bet that we are recommending is Andrej Kramaric to be an anytime goalscorer. The 28-year-old has scored in four of his last five league outings and looks to be in good form.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 17/20 and/or Andrej Kramaric to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/8. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
