Dortmund v RB Leipzig preview, prediction and odds

Prediction and odds for the game: Dortmund (11/10) v RB Leipzig (23/10)

We are backing the over 3.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5.

When: Tuesday 17th December 2019, Kick-off 7:30 PM

Where: Signal Iduna Park

On Tuesday night, Dortmund host RB Leipzig in a potentially massive game in the German Bundesliga.

BVB have found form of late, winning their last three matches in the Bundesliga, including last time out when they maul Mainz 4-0. The good run of form has brought to within four points of Tuesday night’s visitors, who are league leaders.

However, at the time of writing, Monchengladbach still had to play their game against Wolfsburg later today. The Foals will return to the top of the table with a win against the Wolves.

The good run of form has coincided with Dortmund returning to prolific ways in front of goal, as BVB have now scored at least twice in their last four Bundesliga matches. The return to form in front of goal means that only Leipzig and Bayern Munich have scored more times in the German top-flight this season.

Dortmund are renowned for their home form and BVB are unbeaten in eight home games in the Bundesliga, having recorded six wins.

The home side are unbeaten in three matches against the visitors, winning the last two games between the pair.

RB Leipzig

Julian Nagelsmann’s team are enjoying an impressive campaign so far this season. Die Roten Bullen are currently top of the table, two points clear of Monchengladbach, who as we mentioned earlier are playing against Wolfsburg later today. Whatever the result at Wolfsburg, Leipzig have emerged as genuine title contenders this season.

The visitors head into this potentially pivotal clash on the back of six straight league wins. A 3-0 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf last time out means that Leipzig have scored at least three goals in their last six Bundesliga outings.

The stellar goalscoring form of Germany international Timo Werner has been the key to Leipzig’s recent goal-fest, as the 23-year-old has now scored an incredible ten goals in his last six Bundesliga appearances.

After a slight stumble on their travels in late October in the German top-flight, RB Leipzig look to have rediscovered their form on the road recording three straight victories and scoring at least three times in each victory.

This is a big test of both team’s title credentials. A home win would put Dortmund right back into the mix to claim the German crown this season. However, we believe that these two are too hard to separate, so we are backing the draw at odds of 5/2.

The two teams are amongst the most dangerous attacking teams in the European game. This game promises a plethora of goals, which is why we are also backing the over 3.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the over 3.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 and/or back the draw at odds of 5/2. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
