Prediction & odds for the game: Leicester (12/5) v Liverpool (21/20)

When: Thursday, 26th December 2019 @ 8pm K.O

Where: King Power Stadium

The Premier League title race continues to heat up as the two leading contenders, Leicester City and Liverpool, meet on Boxing Day.

Leicester

Brendan Rodgers will lead the Foxes into battle against his old side, knowing that the fate of the title race could well hang in the balance. Both teams have had a phenomenal start to the campaign, but in reality, Leicester’s ability to go on a run similar to their 2016 Premier League title winning campaign is nothing short of remarkable. Whatever happens now, their fans can be incredibly proud of what they’ve accomplished and what the future holds for them.

The defeat to Manchester City in their last outing was hard to take, but it wasn’t exactly unexpected. Just prior to that they were fortunate to edge into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on penalties, too, after initially surrendering a 2-0 lead against Everton. They also dropped points against Norwich which came after three nice wins over Everton, Watford and Aston Villa in the PL.

Liverpool

With a few trophies already in the bag and a few more expected to be on the way within the next few months, it’s not hard to see why there’s such an overwhelming level of optimism surrounding Anfield right now. On the world, European and domestic stage they continue to shine, and they’re doing so at a level that many of us have never even seen before. They have a squad that really is playing to the peak of their powers, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever.

A 5-0 battering at the hands of Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup was hard to take, but it was to be expected as they put out the kids for the most part. That loss was sandwiched between wins over Bournemouth, Salzburg and Watford as well as Monterrey and Flamengo, with the latter two leading to them being crowned world champions.

Conclusion

We can picture a pretty tight game unfolding at the King Power Stadium, and we can also picture a really, really high quality game of football featuring two teams who just continue to take things to a whole new level. It’s going to be close but we do feel like Liverpool can turn it on when it matters the most, and in doing so, they’ll be able to maintain their unbeaten run and take a massive step towards lifting that elusive Premier League title for the very first time.

When you get a game of this magnitude, naturally, it only feels right to predict that they’ll score for fun – so we’re going for the over 2.5 goals market.

Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 21/20 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from bet365).
