Prediction and odds for the game: Napoli (13/5) v Juventus (21/20)
We are backing the away win
When: Sunday 26th January 2020, Kick-off 7:45 PM
Where: The Stadio San Paolo
On Sunday night, out of form Napoli will look to halt Juventus’ bid for the Scudetto, as they welcome the league leaders to the Stadion San Paolo.
For a long time, Napoli were considered the closest challengers to perennial champions Juventus for the Italian title. However, they failed to stop the juggernaut that is the Bianconeri and are now experiencing their worst campaign in a long time.
In fact, the men from Naples are currently 11th place in the table, nine points above the relegation zone, while also seven points outside the European spots.
The home side head into this difficult clash on the back of just one win in Serie A in their last 12 outings. The fact that they have lost four of their last five matches in the Italian top-flight has not helped their chances of reviving their campaign.
The San Paolo has not been a happy hunting ground for Napoli of late, as they have failed to win in six league games on home soil, having suffered four consecutive defeats. Poor defensive displays have played the home side on home soil of late, as they have conceded at least twice in those aforementioned four home defeats.
The Bianconeri are enjoying a typical campaign in Serie A, as Maurizio Sarri’s team are currently top of the table. The reigning champions are four points clear of nearest challengers Inter after a good recent run of form in Serie A.
In fact, a 2-1 win over Parma last time out in Serie A, means that Sarri’s team have now racked up five straight victories in the Italian top-flight. The visitors have also netted at least twice in all five of their recent victories in Serie A. However, they have only kept one clean sheet in eight league outings. Juventus have a pretty solid recent away record in Serie A, as you can imagine.
The Bianconeri have won seven of their last ten league games on their travels. The team from Turin have also won four of their last five away matches in the Italian top-flight. Their recent games on their travels in Serie A have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in their last four games.
Juventus have had the upper hand in recent meetings between the two teams, winning four of their last six matches.
Napoli are not the same team they were when challenging Juventus just last season. Confidence is low amongst the players, which is why we are backing an away win, which looks look good value considering the home sides recent form. We are also backing the over 2.5 goals, as Napoli have been poor at the back, with Juventus prolific on their travels.
Verdict: Back the away win at odds of 21/20 and or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
