Prediction and odds for the game: Inter (19/20) v AC Milan (31/10)
We are backing the home win
When: Sunday 09th February 2020, Kick-off 7:45 PM
Where: The Giuseppe Meazza
On Sunday night, Inter will put their Serie A title credentials to the test as they host city rivals AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Antonio Conte has instilled a real belief into everybody at the club that the Nerazzurri can really challenge perennial Italian champions Juventus. The home side are currently just three points behind the Bianconeri heading into the weekend action.
Things could have been better for the Nerazzurri if it were not for a run of three draws in their last four Serie A outings. A 2-0 win at Udinese last time out broke the run of three straight league draws. However, looking at the positives, Inter are now 15 games unbeaten in the Italian top-flight.
If Conte’s team are to mount a realistic title then their home form needs to improve. The Nerazzurri maybe seven home games unbeaten in Serie A, but they have drawn three of those seven matches, including three of their last four matches on home soil in the Italian top-flight.
Inter are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with their city rivals in all competitions, winning four of the last six meetings with the Rossoneri.
After a woeful start to their Serie A campaign, the designated visitors (as they share the ground with Inter) have started to produce better results of late in the Italian top-flight.
In fact, a 1-1 home draw against Verona last time out in Serie A means they are five league games undefeated. The recent decent run of league form has seen the Rossoneri moved to within a point of the European spots in the Italian top-flight. A victory in this clash would certainly enhance their hopes of sealing a top-six finish this season.
The visitor’s recent league games have been relatively tight, low scoring affairs, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five Serie A outings.
Milan have a good recent away record, winning four of their last five matches on their travels. However, they have struggled for victories at the Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A of late, as they have won just two of their last ten league games at the famous old stadium.
Despite their unbeaten run of late in Serie A, Inter have not been at their best of late. The absence of the suspended Lautaro Martinez through suspension will not help the Nerazzurri’s cause. However, we are backing the home side to record a victory. We are also backing the under 2.5 goals scored, as both teams have been involved in low-scoring league games in recent months.
Verdict: Back the home win at odds of 19/20 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
