Prediction and odds for the game: Slutsk (21/20) v Energetik-BGU (5/2)
We are backing the home win
When: Friday 08th May 2020, Kick-off 3 PM
Where: The Stadyen Haradski
On Friday afternoon, Slutsk will look to continue their strong start to the Belarussian Premier League campaign, as they host Energetik-BGU at the Stadyen Haradski.
The home side are top of the table after seven rounds of fixtures in the Belarussian top-flight. They have picked up a highly creditable 16 points from their opening league games. A 2-1 win at Dinamo Minsk in their last league outing was their third straight victory in the Belarussian top-flight. The win also means Slutsk are unbeaten in five league games, having recorded four wins in the process.
The home sides recent league games have certainly offered good value for money when it comes to goals, as four of their last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
Slutsk have been relatively inconsistent on home soil of late in the Premier League. However, they have at least been difficult to beat on their own patch, losing just once in their last seven league matches at home. Although Slutsk’s recent home matches have not been that high-scoring of late in the league, both teams have scored in four of their last five matches on home soil.
The home side is unbeaten against Energetik in the Premier League. However, the pair have only ever met in the Belarussian top-flight on two occasions. Slutsk have won one and the other game has finished in a draw.
The visitors have enjoyed a rollercoaster of a campaign in the Belarus top-flight. Vladimir Belyavskiy’s team won their opening three league matches, but then suffered three straight defeats. However, last time out they got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win at Smolevichi. The game saw the visitors end a three-game barren spell in front of goal. That lack of goals has contributed to under 2.5 goals scored in five of Energetik’s six league outings this season.
When it comes to away form, the visitors have been inconsistent since last season. In the current campaign, they have won at Ruh Brest and Smolevichi with two straight away defeats at Torpedo Zhodino and Neman Grodno sandwiched in-between. Like their recent league games in general Energetik’s most recent away games have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals in four of their last five matches.
Slutsk have certainly made a solid start to the league campaign, while Energetik have been highly unpredictable. This game could be a relatively close one. However, we are backing the home side to shade a low-scoring encounter. With that in mind, we are also backing the under 2.5 goals.
Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 21/20 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/13.[geosnippet id=3620]
