Prediction and odds for the game: Dinamo Brest (12/5) v BATE Borisov (11/10)

We are backing the home away win

When: Wednesday, 20th May 2020, Kick-off 17:00

Where: The Stadyen DASK Brestski

On Wednesday evening, Dinamo Brest hosts BATE Borisov at the Stadyen DASK Brestski, as the visitors look to maintain their lead at the top of the Belarus Premier League.

Dinamo Brest

The reigning champions have endured an inconsistent league campaign so far in Belarussian top-flight. Dinamo are currently seventh place in the Premier League table after picking up just 13 points from their first nine league outings. Their underwhelming start to the campaign has seen Dinamo slip to seventh place, six points adrift of Wednesday night’s table toppers.

Things seemed to be looking up for the champions when they recorded back-to-back league wins over Belshina Bobruisk and Dinamo Minsk. However, a 2-1 defeat at Energetik-BGU last time out may well have shaken their confidence. The game was another high-scoring one for the visitors, as five of their last seven league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Dinamo have been wildly inconsistent on home soil of late, as their record of two wins, two defeats and a draw from their last five home matches illustrates.

Unfortunately for the home side, they have a poor recent record against BATE Borisov, having won just three of the last 38 meetings with the visitors, while suffering a woeful 30 defeats.

BATE Borisov

The home side dethroned BATE last season after the visitors had won the Belarussian title in 13 consecutive seasons. After a terrible start to their title challenge, the former dominant force of the top-flight now look to be back on track. Kiryl Alshevskiy’s team are now seven games unbeaten in the Premier League, having recorded six wins.

The recent good run of form has been enough to move BATE a point clear at the top of the table of Torpedo Zhodino and Energetik-BGU. The visitors will be looking to stretch their lead ahead of their rival’s games.

BATE have been prolific of late in the top-flight, scoring at least two goals in their last four matches in the Premier League. Not only have the visitors been good going forward, but at the other end of the pitch they have also kept five clean sheets in their last seven league matches.

A big part of BATE’s recent form has been a good run away from home, as they have won their last three league matches on their travels while scoring at least twice in all three victories.

Conclusion

Dinamo have just been so inconsistent this season, while BATE head to Brest in top form. We are backing the away win with that in mind. The visitors have also been prolific of late in the Premier League, so we are also backing over 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 11/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 19/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
