Prediction and odds for the game: Bayern Munich (1/6) v Eintracht Frankfurt (12/1)

We are taking a punt on both teams to score at odds of 4/5

When: Saturday, 23rd May 2020, Kick-off 17:30

Where: The Allianz Arena

On Saturday evening, Bayern Munich host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena, as the home side look to consolidate their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Bayern Munich

The reigning German champions have been in superb form of late and head into this clash on the back of 11 wins in their last 12 matches. The good run of form has kept the Bavarians four points clear of the chasing pack in the title race, including perennial rivals Dortmund.

Last time out in the top-flight, Hansi Flick’s team recorded a 2-0 win at Union Berlin. The game in the capital saw Bayern score at least twice for the 11th time in their last 12 matches. Their recent goalscoring form is hardly surprising, as they are the top scorers in the Bundesliga this season. In Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, they also have the top scorer, as the experience forward has scored 26 goals in 24 league appearances this season, including last time out.

RB Leipzig are the only opposition team to come away with anything from their trip to Munich in 12 league matches, as they took a point away from the Allianz Arena back in February.

Bayern have a good recent record against the visitors, having won five of their last seven meetings between the two teams in all competitions.

Eintracht Frankfurt

In recent seasons the visitors have become accustomed to challenging for the European spots in the Bundesliga. However, Adi Hutter’s team are now closer to the relegation play-off spot than the European spots, as they are just five points above 16th place.

Their recent form in the Bundesliga has been truly dire of late, as they have now suffered four consecutive losses in the German top-flight. To make things worse, the Eagles have also conceded at least two goals in all four of those defeats. The visitors generous defending has contributed to over 2.5 goals being in their last five Bundesliga matches.

Hutter’s team’s recent away record tells a story of woe, as the visitors have won just once their last nine league matches their travels, suffering seven defeats in the process. No clean sheets in their last 16 games on their travels in the Bundesliga has certainly hindered their chances of picking up more away wins that’s for sure.

Conclusion

Although Eintracht Frankfurt won the reverse fixture 5-1, the Eagles are heading to the Allianz Arena at a bad time. There never seems to be a good time to play Bayern, but it seems that this clash will be a home banker. We are also taking a punt on both teams to score, as Frankfurt can be an attacking threat on their day and Bayern are simply prolific.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 1/6 and/or both teams to score at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
