Prediction and odds for the game: Wolfsburg (19/20) v Eintracht Frankfurt (11/4)

We are backing the home win

When: Saturday, 30th May 2020, Kick-off 14:30

Where: The Volkswagen Arena

On Saturday afternoon, Wolfsburg host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Volkswagen Arena, in a game could have implications on both ends of the Bundesliga table.

Wolfsburg

The home side will be in confident mood after recording a superb 4-1 win at Bayern Leverkusen last time out. The win leaves Oliver Glasner’s team sixth in the table, three points clear of Hoffenheim and four ahead of Freiburg in the race to secure European football for next season.

Wolfsburg have been in inconsistent form of late in the Bundesliga. However, they have suffered just one defeat in their last nine outings in the German top-flight. The home side has also won two of their three games since returning to action after the break.

The Wolves have certainly got bite in attack, as they have scored at least twice in six of their last nine matches in the German top-flight.

One negative for Wolfsburg of late has been their inconsistent form at the Volkswagen Arena. They have won just once in their last six home matches in the German top-flight. In contrast to their recent league games in general, their recent home matches have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six Bundesliga matches on home soil.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Adi Hutter’s team are now in major danger of being sucked into the relegation play-off spot. Although the Eagles have a game in-hand on 16th place Fortuna Dusseldorf, the visitors are only two points clear of Fortuna.

In truth, their recent league form has been woeful. A 3-3 home draw against Freiburg last time out means that Frankfurt have failed to win in six league outings. There is a slight positive though, as the draw at least ended a run of five straight league defeats for Hutter’s team.

The visitor’s biggest problem of late has been their generous defence, as they have conceded at least twice in their last six Bundesliga outings. Their poor defensive displays have contributed to their last seven league games producing over 2.5 goals.

To say that Frankfurt have been poor travellers would be an understatement. The Eagles have lost eight of their last ten Bundesliga games on the road while picking up just one victory. The fact that they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 16 away games in the Bundesliga has hindered their chances of picking up results on their travels.

Conclusion

Although Wolfsburg have an underwhelming recent home record, the recent win over Leverkusen should give them enough confidence to claim a victory in this clash. Frankfurt halted their losing run last time out, but they still looked highly vulnerable in defence. The other bet we are recommending is over 2.5 goals scored, as Wolfsburg have shown their attacking abilities of late and the visitors have been woeful at the back in recent games.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 19/20 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
