Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (1/7) vs Bournemouth (18/1)

We are backing Bruno Fernandes to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 3/2

When: Saturday, 4th July 202, Kick-off 15:00

Where: Old Trafford

On Saturday afternoon, Manchester United host Bournemouth at Old Trafford in the Premier League, in a game that could be vital at both ends of the table.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have looked impressive since the restart and look to be in a very strong position to seal a spot in the Champions League for next season. United have taken seven points from their three games back in action, winning their last two league games 3-0 against Sheffield United and Brighton.

The recent good form has Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team fifth-place in the table. However, the men from Manchester are now just three points behind third-place Leicester, while also being a point adrift of fourth-place Chelsea. The race for the Champions League spots is set for a tight finish.

United have been in strong form on home soil of late in the Premier League, as they are unbeaten in four games, having recorded three straight victories in the league at home.

The Red Devils have been highly impressive in defence at Old Trafford in the English top-flight, keeping clean sheets in five of their previous six home outings. At the other end of the pitch, United have scored at least twice in five of their last seven league matches on home soil.

Bournemouth

The Cherries look to be in major trouble this season. Eddie Howe’s team are 19th place in the Premier League table, but just a point adrift of safety. Unfortunately, the team from the south coast are struggling to pick up points to aid their fight for survival.

A 4-1 home humiliation by Newcastle in their last match means that the Cherries have failed to win in seven Premier League matches, while suffering five defeats, including losing their last four league outings. Poor defensive displays have plagued Howe’s team of late, as they have conceded at least two goals in six of their previous seven top-flight matches. Only four teams in the English top-flight have conceded more goals than Bournemouth this season.

To say that the visitors have been poor travellers this season would be a massive understatement. They have won just once in their previous 13 away games in the league. However, the more damning statistic is that Bournemouth have lost their last seven Premier League matches on their travels. A trip to an in-form Manchester United does not exactly look like a game to turn that poor away form around.

Conclusion

On paper, this is a sure-fire home win. Bournemouth have got out of trouble in the past, but this season it finally seems that their time in the top-flight is up. Backing the home win is to be avoided, as it offers very little value. We are backing over 2.5 goals scored, which doesn’t offer great value but seems a likely outcome in this clash.

We are also backing United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 3/2. The Portuguese international has provided attacking returns in six of his eight league appearances for the Red Devils, including five goals.

Verdict: We are backing Bruno Fernandes to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 3/2 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/15.
