Prediction and odds for the game: Brighton (9/1) v Manchester City (3/10)

We are backing Kevin De Bruyne to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 7/5

When: Saturday, 11th July 2020, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The AMEX Stadium

On Saturday night, Brighton host former Premier League champions Manchester City at the Amex Stadium, as both teams look to end their campaigns positively.

Brighton

Although Brighton have won just once in their last four Premier League outings, the Seagulls look unlikely to be sucked into the relegation zone. Graham Potter’s team are eight points clear of the bottom three. If results go their way in gameweek 35, the team from the south coast could officially seal their place in English top-flight for next season this weekend.

A record of just two wins in their last 14 Premier League games is not a great one. However, they have picked up enough points to pull clear of the bottom three, who have all struggled for points in recent games. The fact that only Crystal Palace in the bottom half of the table have a better defensive record than the Seagulls has been a positive for Potter’s team in a difficult campaign.

One thing that needs to improve for the home side is their form at the AMEX. They head into this match on the back of just one home win in seven. They have also suffered defeat in three of their last four league games on home soil.

Manchester City

The visitors are now former champions and will be looking to finish in the season in as positive a style as they can. One glaringly poor fact this season is that Pep Guardiola’s team has lost nine times in the top-flight. Only Chelsea of the league’s top-eight has suffered more defeats this season.

However, the visitors recorded a 5-0 win over Newcastle last time out. The game was at Etihad Stadium, where City seem to thrive. Away from their own turf, the Citizens seem to wilt under the weight of expectation. The fact that seven of their nine away wins on their travels in the top-flight illustrates perfectly City’s struggles on their travels.

Guardiola’s team has lost five of their last away games in the Premier League, having won on just three occasions. They have also lost their last three away matches in the top-flight, scoring just once in the process.

One positive for the visitors is that they have won their previous six meetings with the Seagulls in all competitions.

Conclusion

This clash pits a poor home side against a poor away team. We do believe that City will end their recent losing run on their travels. However, the away win offers little value.

Instead, we are looking at the goals market. One bet that stands out is Kevin De Bruyne to score at anytime. The Belgium international has scored 11 top-flight goals and is very rarely a victim of Guardiola’s rotation.  We are going to take a gamble on the under 2.5 goals scored too, only because City have not been as prolific away from home of late.

Verdict: We are backing Kevin De Bruyne to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 7/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
