Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (19/10) vs Arsenal (6/4)

We are backing the draw at odds of 9/4

When: Wednesday, 23rd September 2020, Kick-off 19:45

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Wednesday night, Leicester and Arsenal go head to head at the King Power Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Leicester

The Foxes have made a very good start to their campaign, with Brenden Rodgers team sitting top of the Premier League. The home side kicked off their league campaign with a 3-0 win at West Brom and last time out recorded a 4-2 win over Burnley. The team from the Midlands have looked impressive so far this season.

Leicester have a decent recent record in the League Cup, as they made it to the semi-finals of the competition last season, suffering defeat against Midlands rivals Aston Villa. A 2-1 defeat at Villa Park in the second leg ended a five-game unbeaten run in the Carabao Cup for the Foxes. In fact, the loss against Villa is their only defeat in normal time in 18 matches in the competition.

Leicester are unbeaten in nine games in the league cup over 90 minutes on home soil in the Carabao Cup. Their last home defeat in the Carabao Cup on home soil in normal time came back in 2014. The Foxes could give a debut to highly-rated Turkish international Cengiz Under, who is on a season-long loan deal from Roma.

Arsenal

Like Leicester, Arsenal have won their opening two Premier League games. Mikel Arteta’s team kicked off their league campaign with a 3-0 win at neighbours Fulham before a 2-1 win over another capital rival, West Ham. There is a positive atmosphere surrounding Arsenal, which was only increased by the good early season results.

The Gunners have endured mixed fortunes in the Carabao Cup of late. They have won three of their last six league cup matches, losing two games in normal time and suffering one defeat on penalty kicks. The penalty kick defeat came in an incredible 5-5 draw at Liverpool in their last League Cup.

Their recent matches in the Carabao Cup have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games in the competition.

Arsenal have an inconsistent recent record in the Carabao Cup, winning just once in their last four games on their travels in this competition. The Gunners recent games in the league cup on the road have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five matches.

Conclusion

These two teams have both started their Premier League campaigns in a positive fashion. However, both coaches may be looking to rotate their squads with difficult top-flight games to come this weekend. We are going to get splinters sitting on the fence here, but we are backing the draw, as we just cannot separate these two teams. We also believe that this game will bring goals, so we are backing over 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 9/4 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 19/20 (All odds are taken from Bet365)
