Prediction and odds for the game: Leeds United (15/2) v Manchester City (3/10)

We are backing Patrick Bamford to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 12/5

When: Saturday, 3rd October 2020, Kick-off 17:30

Where: Elland Road

On Saturday evening, Leeds United host Manchester City at Elland Road, in what looks set to be a highly entertaining Premier League clash.

Leeds United

The Yorkshire outfit has made a good return to the Premier League, winning two of their first three matches back in the top-flight. Marcelo Bielsa’s team followed up a narrow 4-3 defeat at champions Liverpool by winning 4-3 against Fulham before a rather more gritty 1-0 win at Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United last time out. The Whites have certainly made an entertaining return to the top-flight.

The victory over Fulham ended a seven-game winless run in the Premier League for Leeds. However, six of those seven matches came in the home sides previous spell in the top-flight back in 2004. The derby win over Sheffield United also ended a four-game losing run in the English top-flight. Leeds certainly look like a far different team to the one that suffered relegation in their last spell.

Manchester City

The Citizens head into this clash on the back of a humiliating 5-2 home defeat by Manchester City. The loss was a major shock to the City system and the visitors will be looking to right the wrongs of that game in Yorkshire.

City headed into their last league game ended a six-game winning run in the Premier League, in which Pep Guardiola’s team scored at least two goals in each of the six victories. In fact, the Citizens have now scored at least two goals in their last seven matches in the English top-flight. With Leeds defensive record so far this season, this prolific scoring could continue at Elland Road.

Manchester City have a decent recent away record in the English top-flight of late, winning their last three league games on their travels in the Premier League. City have been highly prolific of late on their travels in the league, scoring at least twice in all three victories.

The men from Manchester have moved to strengthen their defence with the signing of Portuguese centre-back Ruben Dias, who has joined from Benfica for a fee of around £65million. He could make his league debut, maybe alongside Aymeric Laporte who could return after a two-week quarantine.

Conclusion

This is potentially such a fascinating clash between Pep Guardiola and the man who he considers an innovator in Marcelo Bielsa. City will be hurting from the defeat against Leicester and we expect the Citizens to record a narrow win.

The bets we recommend is both teams to score, as neither side has looked that convincing this season so far in the Premier League. We are also backing Leeds in-form striker Patrick Bamford to score anytime, as the 27-year-old has now scored in every league match this season. He looks good value to extend that goalscoring run.

Verdict: We are backing both teams to score at odds of 4/7 and/or Patrick Bamford to be an anytime goalscorer. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
