Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (evens) vs Aston Villa (13/5)

We are backing Ollie Watkins to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4

When: Sunday, 18th October 2020, kick-off 19:15

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Sunday night, two Midlands rivals who have made strong starts to the Premier League meet, as Leicester host Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester

Despite last season ending in a damp squib for Brendan Rodgers team, the Foxes have begun the 2020/21 in good form. In fact, the home side had won their first three league games before an inexplicable 3-0 home defeat by West Ham last time out. The result certainly brought Leicester back down to earth. The game may refocus the Foxes and teach them that they cannot afford any complacency.

Leicester have certainly been one of the teams to watch this season when it has come to goals, as all four of there Premier League matches have produced over 2.5 goals. A factor those high-scoring matches was that Rodgers team had scored at least twice in their opening three league matches of the campaign.

The Foxes recent home record in the English top-flight has been inconsistent, as they have won three of their last six league games at the King Power, having suffered two defeats and also picked up a draw.

Aston Villa

After last season’s close scrape with relegation, Aston Villa are thriving in the current campaign. The Villans are second in the Premier League table, trailing league leaders Everton by a point. Dean Smith’s team have won all three of their top-flight games this season. Without a doubt, the most memorable victory came in extraordinary 7-2 humiliation of reigning champions Liverpool in their last top-flight outing.

Due to that prolific attacking display against Jurgen Klopp’s team, only Everton, their hosts on Sunday and Tottenham have scored more Premier League goals. It could be argued that is only because they have played a game fewer than the other teams at the top.

Villa’s good form has not just started this season, as they are now seven matches unbeaten in the Premier League dating back to last season, having recorded five wins in the process.

A slight negative for Villa is their away form in the English top-flight, with just one win in their previous nine league matches on their travels. That one win was a 3-0 win at Fulham in their last away game that ended an eight-game away winless run.

The Villans have also won just one of the last six meetings with their Midlands rivals. However, Villa will head into this clash in confident mood.

Conclusion

This is a strange situation for these two Midlands teams going into this clash, as they are third and second place in the league table respectively. It could be a high-scoring encounter, with the home side recording a narrow victory. Following his hat-trick against Liverpool, with are also backing Ollie Watkins to be an anytime goalscorer. He was prolific last season for Brentford and the goals against the champions could kick-start a scoring run.

Verdict: We are backing Ollie Watkins to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4 and/or the home win at evens. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
