Prediction & odds for the game: West Bromwich Albion (29/20) v Burnley (19/10)

When: Monday, 19th October @ 5.30pm K.O

Where: The Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion and Burnley will both attempt to secure their first win of the Premier League season when they meet at The Hawthorns.

West Brom

West Bromwich Albion were always expected to struggle upon being reintroduced to the top flight of English football and so far, they’ve lived up to the hype in that regard. They’ve got some names in their squad that are capable of changing any game for them but they just haven’t been able to piece it all together under the guidance of Slaven Bilic yet. Who knows, maybe a home game against a fellow winless side is exactly what they need.

West Brom simply didn’t come across as a team that wanted to compete when they lost 3-0 to Leicester, and the same was true when they were battered 5-2 by Everton. They did beat Harrogate in the Carabao Cup but were knocked out by Brentford in he very next round, and even though they raced out to a 3-0 lead against Chelsea, they couldn’t hold on and wound up drawing 3-3. In their last outing they were beaten 2-0 by Southampton to put extra emphasis on their need for some points tomorrow.

Burnley

Burnley have definitely had a few bad breaks so far this season but Sean Dyche isn’t the kind of man that is going to be searching for excuses. He demands a certain quality from his team whenever they go out there and play and that’ll ring true when they make the trip down to the Midlands for Monday Night Football. Still, if they’re going to edge away from the relegation zone, they’ll need a slice of luck to go alongside a great performance.

A nice run in the Carabao Cup came to an end in the fourth round as they were easily beaten by Manchester City, and it’s been much of the same in that sense in the Premier League. They lost 4-2 to Leicester, were edged out by Southampton, and somehow fell to a 3-1 defeat against a really poor Newcastle side.

Conclusion

Despite the struggles both clubs have faced in the early stages of the Premier League season, we’re expecting them to come out swinging when they meet in the Black Country. They’re going to trade blows back and forth because they both know that there’s not much they have to lose. They need to prove to themselves that they have what it takes to handle their business and we believe that’s going to translate into an exciting draw.

With excitement usually comes plenty of goals, which is why we’re backing a 2-2 draw to hit the over 2.5 goals market.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 23/10 and the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 (All odds are taken from bet365).
