Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (evens) v Arsenal (13/5)

We are backing the home win

When: Sunday, 1st November 2020, kick-off 16:30

Where: Old Trafford

On Sunday afternoon, two of the traditional giants of English game go head-to-head at Old Trafford, as Manchester United host Arsenal.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have endured a rollercoaster of a campaign, which was epitomised by a 5-0 hammering of Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The victory over the German side means that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are unbeaten in four games in all competitions, having recorded three wins. The win also kept up a prolific run in front of goal for the United, who have now scored at least two goals in three of those four unbeaten matches.

Star striker Marcus Rashford has been in prolific form both on and off the pitch, scoring six times in his last four outings, while off the pitch raising funds to feed hungry children in the UK.

Despite the general good run of form, the home team’s recent top-flight form has not been great, as they have now won two, lost two and drawn one of their five league matches.

Manchester United have failed to win in their previous five league games at Old Trafford, which is an incredible statistic considering how strong they tend to be on home soil.

The Red Devils are still without the suspended Anthony Martial for this clash. That means that youngster Mason Greenwood is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up.

Arsenal

It is hard to know what to make of Arsenal this season under Mikel Arteta. Last time out, the Gunners made relatively easy work of a 3-0 home win against Irish team Dundalk in the Europa League.

However, the win followed an underwhelming 1-0 home defeat by Leicester in the Premier League. The defeat means that the team from north London have now lost three of their last four matches in the English top-flight. They have also looked blunt in attack, failing to score in their last two outings in the Premier League.

Arsenal have earned themselves a reputation for being poor travellers in the Premier League of late, winning just three of their last 14 away games in the English top-flight. To make matters, the Gunners have lost four of their last five away matches in the league.

Conclusion

It is hard not to fancy a Manchester United win in this clash after their victory last time out. With that in mind, we are backing the home win. The other bet we back is likely to be a popular one, which is for the man of the moment Marcus Rashford to be an anytime goalscorer. The England international is fine form heading into this clash and we are backing the forward to add to his ever-burgeoning goal tally.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at evens and/or  Marcus Rashford to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 7/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
