Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (13/20) v Aston Villa (4/1)

We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5

When: Sunday, 8th November 2020, Kick-off 19:15

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Sunday night, Arsenal host Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, as both teams look to push up the Premier League table.

Arsenal

The Gunners have made a highly inconsistent start to the 2020/21 season. Mikel Arteta’s team have recorded wins in four of their last five games in competitions, last time out recording a 4-1 Molde on Thursday in the Europa League. The team from north London picked up a 1-0 win at Manchester United in their last Premier League game.

The win continued a mixed recent run of form in the English top-flight, as it was only Arsenal’s second league win in five league outings. The game against the Red Devils was their third straight league game that produced under 2.5 goals.

The Gunners have the best defensive record in the English top-flight, as no team in the Premier League have conceded fewer than the Gunners seven goals this season.

One positive for Arsenal of late has been their home record, as they have won four of their last five Premier League games. However, a 1-0 defeat against Leicester in their last home match ended a four-game winning run. The Gunners have also been prolific of late on home soil in Premier League, scoring at least two goals in the process.

Aston Villa

After winning their first four league games of the season the Villans Premier League games have taken a turn for the worse of late, suffering defeats against Leeds United and last time out a 4-3 home defeat against Southampton. Their league outings have certainly offered value for money when it comes to goals scored, as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five outings.

The recent poor run of league form has seen Dean Smith’s team fall to eighth place in the Premier League table. A win could see the visitors finish the weekend in the top-four of the English top-flight.

Villa have been difficult to beat away from home in the Premier League of late, as the Villans are unbeaten in four league matches on their travels. They have also won their last two away games, keeping clean sheets in their last two games against Fulham and Leicester. Those clean sheets have contributed to five of their last six games producing under 2.5 goals.

Conclusion

We believe that Arsenal will continue a relatively strong recent home win. However, the odds are not great for the home victory. Therefore we are looking at the goals market, with the first bet we recommend under 2.5 goals scored. The other bet we recommend is draw/Arsenal, as both teams could keep it tight in the first half before a more open second period.

Verdict: We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5 and/or draw/Arsenal at odds of 15/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
