Prediction and odds for the game: Serbia (13/20) vs Scotland (4/1)

We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5

When: Thursday, 12th November 2020, Kick-off 19:45

Where: The Stadion Rajko Mitic

On Thursday night, Serbia host Scotland at the Stadion Rajko Mitic in a clash that will determine which team will qualify for next years European Championships.

Serbia

The home team have several players plying their trade at the highest level of the European game. However, Serbia have not been in the greatest form of late, as they have failed to win in their last six games in normal time. However, Ljubisa Tumbakovic’s team set-up this clash by recording a 2-1 extra-time win against Norway. Their recent international games have been relatively high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in of their previous eight matches.

Serbia are unbeaten in five qualifiers for the European Championships, having won three games in 90 minutes and another one in extra-time.

They have a mixed recent home record in qualifying, as they have won just three of their last nine qualifiers in Belgrade. Their recent qualifying matches on home soil have been goal fests, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight matches. The fact that Serbia have scored at least two goals in five of their last six home qualifiers.

Scotland

The visitors head to the Serbian capital in hot form. Steve Clarke’s team have not been beaten in eight internationals, having won six times. Last time out the visitors recorded a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in the Nations League. The game saw Scotland keep their third straight clean sheet.

The visitors booked their place in the play-off final by beating Israel on penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw in normal and extra-time. The draw means that Scotland are unbeaten in four European Championships qualifiers, having recorded three victories. The visitors have been prolific in that recent good run of form, scoring at least two goals scored in all three wins.

One negative for Scotland of late is their away record in qualifying for the European Championships, as the visitors have won just three of their last 11  qualifiers on their travels. Their recent away qualifiers have certainly offered good value for money when it comes to goals, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous six games on their travels in qualifying for the European Championships.

Conclusion

On paper, Serbia on home soil look to be big favourites for victory. However, the two teams form has been highly contrasting of late, with the visitors heading into the game in the clash on a better run. We are backing the draw, as we believe the visitors will have enough to hold the home side over 90 minutes. The game could also be a tight one, so we are backing under 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at 15/4 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 3/5 (All odds are taken from Bet365).
