Prediction & odds for the game: Liverpool (1/2) v Wolves (11/2) – ST is backing the draw

When: Sunday, 6th December @ 7.15pm K.O

Where: Anfield

Liverpool will attempt to keep their phenomenal Premier League run at Anfield going when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday night.

Liverpool

Despite all of the trials and tribulations they’ve had to face so far this season, Liverpool are still viewed the favourites to win the Premier League title and retain their crown. Whether or not that lasts beyond the winter schedule remains to be seen, because there appears to be a curse within the club’s ranks that can’t be overstated. Then again, maybe it’s not a curse, and their squad is depleted due to the insane volume of games they’re having to play.

The 5-0 win over Atalanta at the start of November reminded the masses of what Liverpool can do when they hit their top form, and after beating Leicester and drawing with Manchester City, things were looking up. Alas, they couldn’t keep it up forever, and a defeat to Atalanta was compounded by a somewhat surprising draw against Brighton. They did beat Ajax in the Champions League to ease their schedule a bit, but the injury list is still looking bleak.

Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be heading into this game with a great deal of motivation as they attempt to play for Raul Jimenez, their star forward who suffered a fractured skull in the game against Arsenal. It makes the road ahead this season a complicated one for the boys from Molineux, but at the same time, it also offers up an opportunity to the likes of Pedro Neto and Fabio Silva as they attempt to prove why they’re viewed as the future.

Inconsistency has been a big issue for Wolves in recent weeks both in terms of their performances and the results they’ve ended up with. They beat Leeds but drew to Newcastle, then beat Crystal Palace but fell to another defeat against Leicester. The 1-1 draw with Southampton was viewed as a decent recent, before their 2-1 win over Arsenal vaulted them into seventh place.

Conclusion

These two teams always seem to produce great games against one another, probably because they play such attractive football with the sort of cohesion that most clubs can only dream of. Wolves have come up short in their last few clashes with the Reds but with Liverpool having their fair share of injury concerns, this could serve as the best opportunity Nuno’s men will get to pull out a positive result. As such, we’re going to predict an enthralling draw.

The official scoreline we’re going with is 1-1, which is why we’re also going to be backing the under 2.5 goals market.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 10/3 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10 (All odds are taken from bet365).
