Prediction and odds for the game: Barcelona (11/10) vs Juventus (23/10)
We are backing the home win
When: Tuesday, 8th December 2020, Kick-off 20:00
Where: The Nou Camp
On Tuesday night, two giants of European football meet at the Nou Camp in Group G of the Champions League. Both teams have already qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, but this game will decide who finishes top of the group.
The Catalan giants have experienced a highly inconsistent start to their campaign at home and abroad. A 2-1 defeat at Cadiz last time out leaves the home team tenth place in La Liga. The loss ended a run of three straight competitive games for Ronald Koeman’s team.
While Barcelona are struggling in the Spanish top-flight, their Champions League’s campaign so far has given the Blaugrana something to cheer. The Catalan giants have won all five of their group games this season, scoring at least twice in all of their victories. At the other end of the pitch, the home team has kept clean sheets in three of their last four European matches.
Barcelona are unbeaten in 37 Champions League games at the Nou Camp. Their last European defeat on home soil was way back in 2013.
The Catalan giants only need a draw to win the group because of the 2-0 win in the reverse fixture. However, they will be keen to get back to winning ways after the Cadiz loss.
The Italian champions have suddenly found form under club icon Andrea Pirlo after a slightly underwhelming start to the campaign. A 2-1 win over Torino in the Turin derby last time out means that the Bianconeri are now eight games unbeaten, having recorded six games. The recent decent form has put Pirlo’s team six points behind league leaders Milan.
The visitors have been prolific in recent games, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five competitive matches. Their recent scoring record has contributed to three of their previous four matches producing over 2.5 goals.
Juventus have enjoyed a decent Champions League record this season, winning four of their five matches in Group G of the competition. The only group game the team from Turin have not won in the group was the reverse fixture.
The Bianconeri’s general recent record in Europe’s elite competition has been impressive, as the visitors have won ten of their last 12 matches.
Both teams are under new management this season. Both have experienced mixed fortunes, although the two teams have improved of late. Barcelona are tough opponents at the Nou Camp and we are backing Koeman’s team to record a win. We also expect goals in this clash, so we are also backing over 2.5 goals scored.
Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 11/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
