Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (23/20) vs Everton (9/4)

We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5

When: Wednesday, 16th December Kick-off 18:00

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Wednesday evening, Leicester host Everton at the King Power Stadium, in what could be a fascinating Premier League encounter.

Leicester

The Foxes are just a point off the top of the Premier League table after back-to-back wins over Sheffield United and Brighton. The double win means that Brendan Rodgers team has now won five of their last seven matches in the top-flight.

Veteran striker Jamie Vardy was once again on target against Brighton, as the 33-year-old scored his tenth goal in 11 Premier League appearances this season. The England international has also been something of a creative force, also registering five assists in the top-flight.

Surprisingly, Leicester have a highly inconsistent recent home record in the Premier League, winning three of their last seven matches, while suffering four defeats in the process. Their recent home games in the Premier League have been relatively high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games. The team from the Midlands have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home matches in the English top-flight.

Everton

The Toffees form has certainly dipped since the beginning of the Premier League campaign. However, a battling 1-0 win over Chelsea last time out may just revive their fortunes. The game may prove to be key to Carlo Ancelotti’s team challenging for a top-six spot, as it saw the visitors keep just their second clean sheet of the season in the Premier League. The victory over Frank Lampard’s team took the Merseysider’s to within three points of the top-four and five points off the top of the table, despite their recent poor run of results.

The visitors must improve upon their away form if they are to challenge for a top-six spot this season. The Toffees head into this clash having won just one of their last four league matches on their travels.

A back four of four predominantly centre-backs of Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey produced a superb display. Ancelotti is likely to field the same backline. It remains to be seen if the Toffees boss will bring Colombian star James Rodriguez back into the team. His stand-in Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the Toffees only goal against Chelsea and produced one of his better performances in a royal blue shirt.

Conclusion

Leicester will be eying a win in this clash, but that inconsistent recent home form is a concern. The win over Chelsea was massive for Everton and it could be a turning point for the Toffees. We fancy the visitors to get a point in this clash, playing in a similar style to the one they played last time out. It may be a tight game if the Toffees full-backs don’t bomb forward. Therefore, we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 13/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
