Prediction & odds for the game: Sheffield United (6/1) v Manchester United (4/9) – ST is backing the draw

When: Thursday, 17th December @ 8pm K.O

Where: Bramall Lane

Sheffield United will try and claim their first win of the Premier League season when they host Manchester United at Bramall Lane on Thursday night.

Sheffield United

One point from 12 games isn’t exactly the start Sheffield United fans would’ve expected after finishing in ninth place the season prior. Still, that’s the position they find themselves in, and Chris Wilder has to start trying to find some answers in a hurry. It doesn’t appear as if there’s any danger of him losing his job just yet but if this run of form continues into 2021 and they still haven’t picked up a win, big questions will need to be asked.

The last six games for United have followed a familiar trend as they continue to suffer from defeat after defeat after defeat. They were somewhat unlucky to lose out against Manchester City on Halloween, but just seven days later, they were put to the sword by Chelsea. They were then beaten by just one goal in three consecutive games against West Ham, West Brom and Leicester, only to be torn apart by high-flying Southampton this past weekend.

Manchester United

The inconsistency of Manchester United this season has already been pretty infuriating to watch for their supporters, and now that they’ve dropped into the UEFA Europa League, they’ll have to deal with at least an extra two fixtures on their already-congested schedule. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears to be remaining calm in the face of danger, but you do have to wonder how much longer that’ll last.

A dominant 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir gave United hope that they could reach the Round of 16 in the Champions League, but defeats against PSG and RB Leipzig ensured that they fell through the trap door into third place. In the Premier League, however, things have been looking up after two big wins over tough opposition in the form of Southampton and West Ham. They may have only earned a point against Manchester City, but that’s still one more than most thought they’d managed.

Conclusion

Despite everything that the Blades have been through so far this season, we can picture a scenario in which they dig deep and really try to go after the Red Devils in this game. They aren’t mathematically down by any stretch of the imagination and we believe they will battle tooth and nail on Thursday night, and in the end, that will earn them an incredibly valuable point against Ole’s men.

Our official scoreline prediction is going to be 1-1, meaning we will be backing the under 2.5 goals market.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 18/5 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 1/1 (All odds are taken from bet365).
