Prediction and odds for the game: West Ham (4/7) vs West Brom (5/1)

We are backing under 2.5 scored at odds of 10/11

When: Tuesday, 19th January 2021, Kick-off 18:00

Where: The London Stadium

On Tuesday evening, West Ham host West Brom at the London Stadium, as the visitors look to move closer to safety.

West Ham

The Hammers head into this clash in decent form, as David Moyes are four games unbeaten in the Premier League. A defensive improvement has played a big part in the home team’s improving results.

In fact, the Irons have now kept three straight clean sheets in the Premier League. The home side’s last three league matches have produced under 1.5 goals, which is mainly down to those recent clean sheets.

Their recent good run has moved West Ham to within five of the Champions League spots, although there is major competition for those top-four spots this season.

West Ham’s recent home record is slightly inconsistent, as the Irons have won just one of their previous four home games in the top-flight. However, on the flip-side, they have also lost just one of their previous eight league matches on home soil. Although their recent home games have not all been high-scoring, four of their last five outings have seen both teams score.

West Brom

The Baggies look in major trouble this season, despite the appointment of Premier League survival expert Sam Allardyce as head coach, who is a former Hammers boss. The visitors are five points from safety and need to start picking up results quickly.

However, maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the Baggies, as last time out Allardyce’s team recorded a 3-2 black country derby win at Wolves. The victory ended a seven-game winless league run for the visitors, who had lost five of those seven matches without a victory.

West Brom have remained poor in defence despite the arrival of their new boss, as the Baggies have now conceded at least two goals in four of their last five matches in the English top-flight. They remain the team with the worst defensive record in the Premier League.

The win at Wolves ended a nine-game winless away run in the Premier League stretching back to their last spell in the English top-flight. However, the Baggies are now unbeaten in three matches on their travels in the Premier League, including draws at Manchester City and Liverpool.

Conclusion

West Ham are on a decent run of form of late, but West Brom will be lifted by their win last time out. The Hammers are likely to match the visitor’s work rate and we are backing Moyes team to record a narrow victory. The other bet we are backing is under 2.5 goals, simply because both teams are so well organised.

Verdict: We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11 and/or the home win at odds of 4/7. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
