Wolves vs West Ham preview, prediction and odds

Prediction & odds for the game: Wolves (9/5) v West Ham (13/8) – ST is backing the draw

When: Monday, 5th April @ 8.15pm K.O

Where: Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United will return to action on Monday Night Football as the Premier League season resumes.

The spark and forward-thinking play of Wolverhampton Wanderers seems to have withered away in recent months, to the point where just finishing in the top half seems like a fairly tricky prospect. There’s a strong chance they’re going to survive in the Premier League this season but just to be sure, and to give fans confidence in Nuno Espirito Santo, they need to try and finish the season in style.

Back to back wins over Southampton and Leeds United put Wolves on a nice path back in February, only for a draw against Newcastle to set them back. They proceeded to lose to Manchester City and Liverpool in spirited displays, with a dull 0-0 draw against Aston Villa thrown in there for good measure.

West Ham

West Ham United have had a really strong Premier League season up to this point, and David Moyes can be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. However, it’d be a real shame if they took their eye off of the ball and allowed themselves to slip out of contention. It’s a possibility given their inexperience in this area but they have the players to pull off a nice final stretch and their fandom will be desperate to urge them on.

Three wins in four against Sheffield United, Tottenham and Leeds put the Hammers back on the right track for European qualification, even if they did lose to Manchester City. They went on to lose a close game to Manchester United before a stunning game against Arsenal in which they surrendered a three-goal lead to draw 3-3.

West Ham have a lot of pressure on their shoulders when it comes to where they go next in this Premier League campaign, if only because the race to finish in the top six is so tense. We think that’ll manifest into a tough game against Wolves – especially now that Nuno’s side have been able to rest up and prepare for the rest of the campaign. We think this is going to end in a stalemate as both teams walk away with a point.

Our official scoreline prediction is a 1-1 draw, ensuring we stick to the under 2.5 goals bracket. We think the first half is going to be quite nervous with both sides failing to pull the trigger, only for them to really come to life in the second with a goal each.

Verdict: Back the draw at odds of 21/10 and the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/15 (All odds are taken from bet365).
