Prediction and odds for the game: Fulham (13/8) vs Leeds (8/5)

We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10

When: Tuesday, 21st September 2021, Kick-off 19:45

Where: Craven Cottage

On Tuesday night, Fulham host Leeds at Craven Cottage in the third round of the Carabao Cup, as the home team look to build on a good start to the campaign.

Fulham

Former Everton head coach Marco Silva has enjoyed an encouraging start to his tenure in south west London, as the Cottagers currently sit second place in the Championship table. They have set themselves up well for a challenge for promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt. That form has dipped of late slightly though, as Silva’s team has now lost two of their last three matches. However, those at the capital club will be hoping that it is just a small blip and that they can bounce back to winning ways.

The Cottagers recent record in the League Cup is pretty good, as they have won three of their last four matches in the competition. They have also managed clean sheets in all three of those victories. However, their recent record in the competition on home soil has been mixed, as they have lost three and won two of their previous five matches at Craven Cottage.

Leeds

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have started their campaign in a poor manner. The Whites have failed to win any of their five matches in the Premier League this season, picking up just three points in the process. Last time out the Yorkshire outfit drew 1-1 with Newcastle at St. James Park.

Leeds have struggled defensively, as their only clean sheet in seven outings in all competitions came in a 3-0 home win in this competition against League One Crewe Alexandra, which is of course the only game that the visitors have won this season in any competition.

The Whites have a poor recent record in the League Cup. Before the win at Crewe, Leeds had exited the competition in the previous two seasons on penalty kicks, suffering defeats against Stoke and Hull, which were both on home soil. Their recent record on their travels in the League Cup has been slightly better, as they have won four of their last six away matches in the competition. However, they needed penalties to win two of those ties against Fleetwood and Burnley.

Conclusion

These games are always hard to predict, as head coaches sometimes rotate their squads in the League Cup. As usual with this competition, both teams have other priorities this season.

This is a classic decent lower league team facing a struggling Premier League team vibe. It would not be a major surprise if Fulham won this clash. However, we are backing the draw in normal time. We also think that both teams will score in this clash, as both teams have good attacking players.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 23/10 and/or both teams to score at odds of 7/10 (All odds are taken from Bet365)
