When: Tuesday, 28th September 2021, Kick-off 20:00

On Tuesday night, French giants PSG host reigning English champions Manchester City in Group A of the Champions League, as both teams look up to pick up a potentially vital gameweek two win.

PSG

Mauricio Pochettino’s team will feel that they now have all the tools to go all the way in the Champions League. The Parisians made it to the final of the competition in season 2019/20, only to suffer a defeat against Bayern Munich.

PSG’s galaxy of stars could only muster a 1-1 draw against Belgian outfit Club Brugge in gameweek one. It was a disappointing result for the home team and the visit of Manchester City is unlikely to be the ideal game to bounce back in.

The draw in Brugge means that PSG have now failed to win in four Champions League games. That run includes back-to-back defeats against Tuesday night’s opponents in the semi-finals of last season’s competition. The Parisians have also failed to win in their last three Champions League games on home soil.

Manchester City

The Citizens are in the midst of what could be a crucial few weeks of football at home and abroad. Pep Guardiola’s team recorded a potentially vital 1-0 win at potential title rivals Chelsea on Saturday. After this game, City travels to Merseyside to face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend. If they can come out of this week’s fixtures intact, then it will set them well for the rest of the season.

The win at Chelsea means that City are now seven games unbeaten in all competitions, having recorded an impressive six wins. Included in that promising run was a 6-3 win over German team RB Leipzig in gameweek one.

The visitors have a stellar recent record in the Champions League of late, as they have won eight of their last nine matches in European football’s elite competition. The exception was a 1-0 defeat by Chelsea in last seasons final.

City have been prolific in the good run of form in the Champions League, scoring at least two goals in all their eight recent victories in the competition. The visitors are also unbeaten in ten away games in the Champions League, having recorded eight wins in the process.

Conclusion

These are no doubt two of the best teams in the European game with a raft of quality players amongst their ranks. City are slight favourites, but we are backing the draw as the Parisians certainly have enough quality to give the Citizens problems. We are also backing both teams to score, as both teams are prolific and have the capabilities of breaching the opposition backlines.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2 and/or both teams to score at odds of 1/2 (All odds are taken from Bet365)
