Prediction and odds for the game: Inter (6/5) vs Napoli (9/4)

We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2

When: Sunday 21 November 2021, Kick-off 17:00

Where: The Giuseppe Meazza

On Sunday evening, Inter and Napoli meet at the Giuseppe Meazza, in what is a massive early-season clash in Serie A.

Inter

The Nerazzurri will know that is a potentially pivotal game, even so early in the campaign when it comes to this season’s Scudetto. Simone Inzaghi’s team have not endured a terrible campaign, but find themselves seven points behind Sunday’s opponents, who sit atop of the table.

The men from Milan head into this clash on the back of a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions, four of which have been in Serie A. Last time out in the Italian top-flight, the Nerazzurri drew 1-1 with arch-rivals Milan in the Derby Della Madonnina.

Inter are a formidable force on home soil and have not been beaten in their last 22 Serie A games at the Giuseppe Meazza. The Nerazzurri have also won 19 of those 22 home games in the Italian top-flight. Inzaghi’s team has also been highly potent of late front of goal, scoring at least twice in seven of their previous eight league games on home soil.

Napoli

The visitors are top of the table, but are only ahead of second-place Milan courtesy of a better goal difference, as the two have not yet met this season. Luciano Spalletti’s team have certainly enjoyed a strong campaign, as they are undefeated in their 12 matches in Serie A this season, having claimed wins in ten of those matches.

A 1-1 home draw against Verona before the international break was a disappointing result. However, the result followed a low-scoring trend for the visitors in Serie A, as four of their previous five league matches have produced under 2.5 goals.

The fact that Napoli have kept clean sheets in eight of their previous nine matches in Serie A has certainly been a factor. Spalletti’s team have by far the strongest defensive record in the Italian top-flight, as the team from Naples have conceded just four league goals this season.

Napoli have claimed wins in nine of their last ten away games in the Italian top-flight, while remaining unbeaten in ten matches on their travels in Serie A. Considering their solid defensive record this season, the fact that they have kept clean sheets in four of their previous five away matches is unsurprising.

Conclusion

This game is so difficult to judge, as Inter are formidable on home soil, while Napoli are strong travellers. We are going to sit on the fence on this one and back the draw. We believe this could be a tense and close affair. Therefore, we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored. Napoli’s recent defensive record also points to a low-scoring affair.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 11/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
