Leicester Vs Tottenham Preview, prediction and odds
|

Update: Due to a Covid-19 outbreak in the Leicester squad, this game has been postponed until a later date.

Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (6/5) vs Tottenham (12/5)

We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5

When: Thursday 16 December 2021, Kick-off 19:30

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Thursday night, Leicester and Tottenham meet at the King Power Stadium, as both teams look to close in on the Premier League’s top-six.

Leicester

The Foxes have found consistency difficult to come by of late. A 4-0 home win over Newcastle last time out ended a three-game winless run for Brendan Rodgers in all competitions. The victory was much needed, as the Midlands outfit had won just once in their previous six games in the Premier League before the win.

Such is the inconsistency of the teams below the league’s top-three, that Leicester are just four points adrift of sixth-place Arsenal.

If Leicester hopes to finish in the European spots then they need to tighten up in defence, as Rodgers’ team has conceded at least two goals in four of their last five matches in the English top-flight.  The clean sheet against Newcastle was only their second of the current Premier League campaign.

The Foxes have won their last two home matches in the Premier League. However, a record of three home wins in their last seven games at the King Power Stadium illustrates their inconsistency on home soil.

Tottenham

The team from north London have not played since December 5th and a 3-0 win over Norwich due to several players and personnel testing positive for Covid-19. It remains to be seen if the visitors are rusty or not.

However, before the break, the team were showing positive signs under new head coach Antonio Conte. In fact, the victory last time out means that Spurs are unbeaten in four league games, having recorded three straight league victories.

The recent improvement in results has seen the team from north London climb to seventh-place in the table, just three points behind fourth-place West Ham. However, Spurs have two games in hand on the Hammers, so this could be a massive game for the visitor’s chances of landing a top-four spot this season.

Tottenham have not played an away game in the Premier League for over a month, which saw a 0-0 draw at struggling Everton in Antonio Conte’s first game in charge. Spurs have been poor on their travels in the English top-flight, having won just one of their last five away games in the Premier League.

Conclusion

This game is difficult to judge because of Spurs’ recent circumstances. However, we are backing the draw, as they have enough quality to come away from the trip to the Midlands with a point. The other bet we are backing is James Maddison to be an anytime goalscorer. The attacking midfielder has hit form of late and could be a big threat to the visitor’s defence.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 14/5 and/or James Maddison anytime goalscorer at odds of 11/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
