Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (8/13) vs Tottenham (4/1)

We are backing under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11

When: Sunday 23 January 2022, kick-off 16:30

Where: Stamford Bridge

On Sunday afternoon, London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge, in a big London derby at the top of the Premier League table.

Chelsea

The Blues title challenge has drifted away after several underwhelming results of late in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel’s team are still third-place in the league table, but they are a massive 12 points behind leaders Manchester City, who also have a game in hand on the team from south west London.

A run of four games without a victory in the top-flight has led to the Blues current situation. A 1-1 draw at Brighton in their last league match means they have drawn three of their last four games in the English top-flight.

Chelsea are unbeaten in eight league matches at Stamford Bridge. However, five of their last six Premier League games on home soil have finished all square.

The Blues have beaten Tottenham in the last two meetings, 2-0 and 1-0 in the two legs of the recent Carabao Cup semi-finals. They will believe that they can repeat the feat in this clash.

Tottenham

The reign of Antonio Conte has certainly brought about a turnaround of fortunes for Spurs, in the Premier League at least. The Italian’s team are undefeated in nine top-flight games, having claimed six victories. The team from north London have been prolific in recent games too, scoring at least two goals in six of their previous eight top-flight.

Captain Harry Kane has scored four goals in his last five Premier League games, which has been a big factor in Spurs’ recent potent performances in front of goal.

The recent good form in the Premier League has seen Conte’s team move up to fifth in the standings. Spurs look well placed to move into those lucrative Champions League spots, as they are a point behind fourth-place West Ham, who have played three more games than the team from north London.

Tottenham’s recent form on the road has been decent, as they are now undefeated in four away games in the Premier League. That run includes two straight wins on their travels in the league against Watford and Leicester. Their recent away games in the English top-flight have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five league matches on their travels.

Conclusion

Tottenham will be in high spirits are scoring two stoppage-time goals to win at Leicester last time out. Chelsea on the other hand really needs to get back to form before they must start looking nervously over their shoulders at the teams directly below them.

We think this could be a tight encounter, maybe low-scoring. With that in mind, we see this game following a similar pattern as the Blues recent league games at Stamford Bridge and finishing in a draw.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 16/5 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
