Prediction and odds for the game: Chelsea (11/5) vs Liverpool (13/10)
We are backing the Liverpool win
When: Sunday 27 February 2022, Kick-off 16:30
On Sunday afternoon, Premier League titans Chelsea and Liverpool clash at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.
The Blues are undefeated in their last six games in all competitions, recording four wins in normal time and the other two in extra time. Their recent good record has been built on solid defensive foundations, as Thomas Tuchel’s team has conceded just once in their last four outings.
With the Premier League seemingly out of reach for the team from south west London this game gives the Blues the chance to pick up their second silverware of the season after they recently won the FIFA World Club Cup.
Chelsea’s road to Wembley has not always been simple, as the Blues needed penalty kicks to see off Aston Villa and Southampton in the early rounds of the competition. However, since then Tuchel’s team have beaten Brentford and London rivals Tottenham twice to make it to the final.
The Blues still has two major absentees through injury in England full-back pair Ben Chilwell and Reece James through injury. The pair played a crucial role in Chelsea’s early-season stellar form.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are in superb form heading into this clash, having won their last nine games in all competitions. Last time out, the Reds hammered Leeds 6-0 at Anfield. It was not a bad way to warm up for a cup final. Liverpool, are in fact unbeaten in 2022, having gone on a 12-game unbeaten run since their last defeat by Leicester on 28th December. They have been impressive at both ends of the pitch.
The Reds have kept clean sheets in four of their last five matches in all competitions. They have also scored at least two goals in eight of their previous nine games in all competitions.
Liverpool have eliminated Norwich, Preston, Leicester and Arsenal to book their place in the final of the Carabao Cup. The team from Merseyside kept clean sheets in all but the game against Leicester when they needed penalty kicks to beat the Foxes.
They have proven difficult opponents for Chelsea of late, as the Blues have beaten Liverpool in just one of the last five meetings in all competitions.
The Red’s only injury worries for this clash are forward pair Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, who may or may not feature in their squad.
Liverpool are in superb form and we are backing the Reds to record a victory. Despite Klopp’s team being prolific of late, Chelsea have looked solid in recent weeks in defence and we don’t expect this to be a goal-fest, which leads us to back under 2.5 goals scored in 90 minutes.
Our Tips: We are backing Liverpool to win at odds of 13/10 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 13/20. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
