Prediction and odds for the game: Dortmund (11/8) vs RB Leipzig (7/4)
We are backing the home win
When: Saturday 2 April 2022, Kick-off 17:30
Where: Signal Iduna Park
The evening kick-off in the Bundesliga on Saturday could be an absolute treat of attacking football, as Dortmund and RB Leipzig go head-to-head at Signal Iduna Park.
Once again Dortmund have endured a Bundesliga campaign where they have been nearly good enough to give dominant force Bayern Munich a run for their money in the race for the German title.
BVB are just six points behind their seemingly perennial rivals in the table. However, every time Bayern slips up, Dortmund seems to fail to take advantage.
Marco Rose’s team have been in relatively consistent form of late though, as they are undefeated in six Bundesliga outings, recording four wins in the run. Rather uncharacteristically for Dortmund, their recent league games have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last four Bundesliga matches.
Despite that relative lack of goals in recent league games, Dortmund have continued to be prolific on home soil in the Bundesliga. Incredibly BVB have scored at least twice in 16 of their previous 17 league outings at Signal Iduna Park. A record of 15 victories in 17 home games in their domestic league is also an impressive record.
Die Roten Bullen have forced their way into the Champions League reckoning with a six-match undefeated run in the German top-flight, four of which have produced victories. A goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt was a slightly underwhelming result.
The draw may not hinder Leipzig’s hopes of landing a Champions League spot this season, but Die Roten Bullen are now only above fifth-place Freiburg courtesy of a superior goal difference.
Similarly, to their opponents, the visitor’s recent league games have been unusually low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four matches in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig have been dangerous opponents on their travels of late in the Bundesliga, winning four of their last five matches on their travels in the German top-flight. Their recent away record has illustrated the visitor’s potent attacking prowess, as Domenico Tedesco’s team has scored at least twice in four of their previous five matches on their travels.
Star forward Christopher Nkunku has been prolific in Leipzig’s recent away games, scoring six goals in their last five away games in the Bundesliga.
Despite both teams’ recent games being relatively low-scoring, we believe this game will reignite both teams’ attacking fires. This could be a relatively close game, but we fancy Dortmund to record a narrow win. The other bet we are backing is for Christopher Nkunku to be an anytime goalscorer and continue his incredible recent scoring run away from home.
Our Tips: We are backing Dortmund to win at odds of 11/8 and/or Christopher Nkunku to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8 to be an anytime goalscorer. (All odds are taken from Bet365).[geosnippet id=3620]
